The GIS & Mapping Intern is responsible for assisting the GIS & Mapping Department with pre and post job activiities as well as any ongoing support from within the office.
The GIS & Mapping Intern will be introduced to processes, various charting, and different data sets associated with the Survey & Positioning and Geoscience Department. As part of pre job setup responsibilities the intern will work closely with assigned GIS & Mapping Analyst to ensure all files, paperwork, and charts needed for mobilization are put together and ready for offshore use. The GIS & Mapping Intern will be responsible for checking in data as it comes in from offshore and assisting in uploading said data and scanning any documentation for processing. Once data upload is complete and processing has begun, the intern will then clean and prep hard drives to be used for future mobilizations. The intern will also assist in the scanning and digitizing of historical paper documentation to be uploaded to network.
The GIS & Mapping Intern will be introduced to software programs utilized to support chart production and Survey Deliverables. In addition this position shall make sure all tasks are performed efficiently, responsibly and in accordance with safe work procedures. No offshore activities will be preformed in this role.
- Support and assist GIS & Mapping Team as required in the office.
- Prepare maps and charts as directed.
- Check in and upload data from offshore operations.
- Work in a team environment.
- Assemble job packs including files and maps for mobilization efforts.
- Perform pre-job and post-job responsibilities as needed.
- Prepare hard drives for future use.
- Project execution and quality assurance.
- Scan and digitize historical documents to upload to network.
- Maintain housekeeping in the office area.
- Comply with company safety rules and training.
REQUIRED
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have valid driver’s license and suitable driving record that is able to meet company driver requirements
DESIRED
- Basic computer skills
- Two (2) year technical degree or higher in field of study
