The General Manager – Operations reports to the Director at RDU and is responsible for strategic and tactical execution of operations within a designated area of responsibility. Based on organizational structure, responsibilities may include personnel and activities associated with gate crews and check-in crews. Responsible for the leadership and implementation of safety initiatives, on-time operational performance, IROP management and recovery plans along with other strategic initiatives set by RDU. Responsible for development and execution of both the operating and capital plans for the given area of responsibility, and further responsible for achieving those financial objectives of the business. What You Need To Succeed (minimum Qualifications)


  • Must step up to conflicts and be skilled at finding common ground in order to obtain cooperation from others

  • Should be a demonstrated self-starter who is action-oriented and proven as capable to manage a complex day-to-day operation
  • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency

  • Should be highly motivated and very customer service-oriented (both internal and external customers)
  • College degree (Business, Operations, etc.) or equivalent business experience
  • Must have demonstrated skills and abilities to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization (frontline to executives) using a variety of tools ranging from Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be able to able to anticipate roadblocks and plan appropriately to mitigate risks


What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (preferred Qualifications)


  • Extensive leadership experience in the Airport Customer Service line operations or equivalent experience highly desired
  • Master's degree or MBA
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft operations (Passenger service, IROP management and aircraft performance) highly desired
