Job Summary


We are looking for an experienced Operations leader to oversee the day to day operations of OBX's ingredients and finished goods manufacturing in a cGMP and ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facility. This position is accountable for the reliable satisfaction of all customer requirements for cannabinoid ingredients and finished goods to OBX Customers in collaboration with functional leaders in Finance, Sales, Product Development, R&D, EHS, Quality, Information Technology and Production. This position provides leadership in the functional areas of program management, customer solution design, project management, purchasing, warehousing, and fulfillment/logistics to ensure the establishment and maintenance of a reliable, safe, high quality, high service level and low-cost continuous improvement culture. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer or Chief Strategy Officer.


Departments that report to this position include: Ingredients Production, Finished Goods Production, Finished Goods Quality, Materials Management - Warehouse and Inventory, Purchasing, Fulfillment/Logistics, Environmental Health and Safety (experience dependent).


Responsibilities


  • Develop functional business requirements for information technology enablers
  • Ensure products are manufactured and produced to meet customer specifications and documentation
  • Approve inventory adjustments as delegated by the Chief Financial Officer
  • Manage the performance of direct reports by setting aggressive, attainable goals and providing periodic performance feedback
  • Deploy and implement a rigorous culture of quality control and collaborate with the Quality team to ensure compliance with the numerous certifications at the facility including, but not limited to cGMP (111 and 117), ISO 9001, PCQI, Organic, Halal, Kosher, NASC
  • Champion the development and institutionalization of a TQM Program
  • Enforce health and safety precautions including adherence to OSHA protocols
  • Maintain an executable succession plan for key roles
  • Support quality assurance department during customer and regulatory audits
  • Serve as a leader of company culture by embodying and deploying its values of Grit, Integrity, Respect, and Accountability
  • Direct internal manufacturing activity and implement team operational goals including KPIs on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis
  • Run the day to day operations of the production facility to achieve customer success and company financial goals
  • Communicate with and update executive team on operations including establishing routine reporting protocols with departmental performance summaries
  • Coordinate external manufacturing activity
  • Ensure compliance and manager/director implementation of all internal and external EHS, Human Resources, and Quality policies throughout the operation, including performance and attendance policies
  • Direct the overall planning to pay cycle for the finished goods supply chain
  • Ensure accurate and timely receipt and warehousing of all materials used in production as well as timely and accurate fulfillment of goods to customers
  • Direct, deploy and maintain a cross-functional continuous improvement program
  • Supervise purchasing and procurement activities required to meet customer requirements
  • Recruit, retain, and develop top talent with executive collaboration and approval, including making organizational chart recommendations
  • Approve purchase orders and operational expenses as delegated by the Chief Operating Officer
  • Develop and manage operational expense and materials budget
  • Establish and maintain adequate supply of stock ingredient and MRO material
  • Lead various operational meetings in accordance with meeting best practices


Skills And Abilities


  • Attention to detail, and a natural problem solver
  • Experience managing and building teams in a cGMP and OSHA compliant environment
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP software
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Experience in reporting on key production metrics
  • Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts
  • Deep knowledge of production management and the ability to provide hands on support in solving problems and implementing systems
  • BSc/Ba in business administration or relevant fields is preferred
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
  • Outstanding communication ability


Education And Experience


  • Cannabis, hemp, consumer products, food production, or white/private label experience will distinguish you
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in a production management leadership position. Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree in a relevant field a plus


Additional Details


  • Flexibility to work days/evenings/weekends depending on production schedules required
  • This is a full-time position based out of Roxboro, NC


Physical Demands and Working Environment


  • Must be comfortable working with and around heavy machinery
  • Work with heavy fumes, plants, airborne particles and chemicals
  • May be required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time (4-6 hours) with frequent kneeling and bending
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions
  • Working in limited climate-controlled facilities and experience extreme heat or cold
  • May experience moderately high noise levels
