Role Overview:
At Iberostar, we service over 45 million meals a year across 16 countries, each with unique supply chains. Iberostar's food service also accounts for a carbon footprint estimated to be higher than all of its electricity generation. With commitments such as sending no waste to landfill by 2025, reducing its emissions by 50% from its food service by 2030, and sourcing 100% of its seafood from responsible sources by 2025, sustainability in Iberostar's food service is of paramount importance.
The mission of this strategic role will be scoping, evaluating, and prioritizing opportunities for strategic engagement in the sector (region specific), new collaborative partnerships, and community development goals, ensuring the new strategic engagements are correctly incorporated into strategy for sustainability office.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Support business development, acquisition and proposal development processes. Build partnerships and alliances with relevant stakeholders and investigate potential (joint) opportunities. Act as technical expert in the proposal development phase or review the quality of proposals.
- Packaging solutions that contain recycled content, are reusable or recyclable that helps reduce material waste and lower emissions.
- Regenerative sourcing, based on redesign of our food system to reflect this natural cycle more closely and help biodiversity , people, and the circular economy.
- Reduce Food waste.
- Lead the implementation of the concept Plant Forward.
- Support the collection and analysis of strategic results on food systems, and define means of verification.
- Alongside sustainability office and external advisors, lead development of Sustainable seafood sourcing with minimal social impact and environmental impact to the marine ecosystem, conserving fish stocks and the ecosystems that support them while complying with relevant laws and regulations.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor (or higher) of Science in sustainable food systems, environmental sciences, marine sciences, nutrition, conservation of natural resources, biology, ecology, or similar.
Specific Skills:
- Experience in efficiently driving reduction in food waste over ambitious time scales.
- Experience in designing and implementing plant-forward menus.
- Experience in working closely with purchasing / procurement departments to drive. sustainability (i.e. regenerative agriculture, sustainable sourcing of seafood, reduction in carbon footprint, innovation in food packaging) in the food systems supply chain.
- Experiencing in sourcing sustainable seafood or otherwise pursuing food with eco certifications and traceability in the supply chain for specific products.
Experience:
- Knowledge of (climate resilient/smart) sustainable food systems and strategies, food- and nutrition security, food and agri-market systems and value-chains.
- Corporate advisor in hotels or restaurant chains
- Consultant in a consulting food industry firm.
- Relevant working knowledge in the field of food security and food systems.
- Laboratory technicians in manufacturing food companies.
Skills:
- Fluency in Spanish and English, professionally proficient capacity in the other language.
- Strategic vision.

- Emotional intelligence and adaptability to build relationships with diverse audiences.

- Capacity to adjust policies and standards relative to the local legal and logistical framework of the diverse countries where we operate.
