Pay Rate: $18.50 - $19.00/hour

Total Compensation:

In addition to standard pay, compensation for this position includes:

Position Overview:

An integral part of the Hand Up Food Pantry team, the Food Pantry Assistant provides direct support to the day to day operations of the Corner Market. This position will be responsible for supporting the evening operations of the Corner Market in-person shopping, and online order pickups. Working with volunteers and the Food Pantry team, you will be providing vital nutrition support to San Diegans facing nutrition insecurity. The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday 3:30pm to 7:30pm.

Responsibilities:

• Restock the Corner Market as needed, maintaining a neat and organized inventory
• Assist online order shoppers at their scheduled pick up time
• Collecting and fulfilling online orders
• Update stock in the inventory management system
• Provide support to volunteers working in the Corner Market to assist shoppers

Skills/Abilities That Are a Must-Have:

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Comfort in using a computerized client management system
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Responsible, well organized
• Able to work with a wide range of individuals from a diverse socio-economic backgrounds and origins

Skills/Abilities We’d Like You to Have:

• Bilingual preferred

This position requires frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
