The LineUp at Wai Kai is everything you love about Hawaii in an experience that's anything but typical. The LineUp brings the best of the island's activities -- surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, outrigger canoeing, dining, and entertainment -- as attractions never before available in one location, celebrating our deep connection to water. The LineUp is a meeting place for locals, aspiring surfers to pro surfers, and travelers alike. Construction began in October 2020 and is on track for opening early 2023.
We are seeking a dynamic individual to work with us on all aspects of start-up Food & Beverage operations of The LookOut bar and restaurant, Foam coffee and bar, dinner shows, and group/banquet services. The right candidate will have strong communication, financial management, and modern management skills; as well as the leadership qualities to develop an exceptional experience for both employees and guests.
Job Summary
The Food and Beverage Director of The LineUp at Wai Kai leads and is responsible for all aspects of the F&B Division, which includes an all-day large volume restaurant, The LookOut Food & Drink, a waterfront café, Foam Coffee & Bar, and food service for group banquets, events, and dinner shows.
Overview Of Responsibilities

• Actively participates in day-to-day F&B operations as required
• Actively create and implement programming at The Lookout and The Lineup that is valued by our guests and that brings repeat business and PR to our venue
• Constant focus on creating memorable guest experiences every day in our competitive business environment
• Works with sales and marketing to keep the pipeline full of profitable group business. This is a key driver of our financial success and unlike a lodging business we are not in the amenity or lost leader group business.
• Manages labor cost and cost of sales daily while being careful to not "math model" out the soul of the business.
• Achieves business plan goals by focusing on driving profitable revenue through repeat business, creative up-sell opportunities, and notable premium experiences
• Develops, implements, and modifies goals and objectives for the F&B management team
• Directly recruits, trains, and manages the F&B management team including the front and back of house

Skills/Abilities

• Successful F&B profit and loss management in a competitive business environment
• Strong communication skills in one-on-one situations and public speaking
• A strong team player at the senior level
• Strong relationships with government entities, suppliers, partners, and industry peers
• A creative problem solver with the ability to pivot as situations require and the ability to create win-win outcomes with partners, customers, and staff
• Exceptional guest service skills
• Point of Sale, inventory management, Word, Excel, and accounting software experience
• Scheduling large numbers of employees across multiple businesses and business types
• Proven ability to lead a team
