Position Description:
Looking for a Fleet Mechanic opportunity at a place where you can make a difference everyday? Join Serco as a Fleet Mechanic III Heavy Diesel & Off-Road Construction Equipment Technician in Colorado Springs, CO!

Serco supports a large municipal and utility fleet (4,000+ units) performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repair of a diverse equipment set (light, medium and heavy duty diesel/gas cars/trucks; off-road construction equipment, snow plows, ATVs, Generators, VAC trucks, and ancillary equipment). I
n this role, you will:
  • Provide clear and accurate information when entering work order data into a fleet maintenance system.
  • Perform operational and functional inspections, repairs and maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to work on a diverse equipment set, which includes mowers, cranes, backhoes, trailers, trenchers, bulldozers, excavators, wood chippers, asphalt laying equipment, diggers and pole setting equipment, aerial manlifts, cranes, snow plows, sanders, medium and heavy trucks and mounted/non-mounted attachments.
  • The list of duties does not include ALL duties that may be assigned to this position.
  • Work under general supervision and is a self-starter.
  • Provide advise and guidance to teammates
  • Perform routine vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance inspections checking, DOT inspections and replaces fluids, checks lights and other electrical system components, etc.
  • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Perform advanced diagnosis and repair complex electrical systems.
  • Perform welding repairs when required and metal fabrication when required.
  • Operate and perform diagnosis on equipment, maintain and repair hydraulic systems, routes and replaces hydraulic lines, check system for leaks and proper operation.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Candidates must provide common technician hand tools
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers
  • Hydraulics diagnosis and repair experience
  • Valid unrestricted Class B CDL driver’s license with good driving record
  • Basic Windows System and Microsoft Office Knowledge
  • ASE Certifications or capable of gaining Master Technician Certification within 8 Months of hire
  • Must possess necessary skills to operate and interpret diagnostic equipment
  • At least 10 years of related experience
  • Combination of advanced diagnostics knowledge for International, Freightliner, CAT, Elgin, Ford, GM, Bobcat, etc. systems training/certification and/or 4 to 6 years of experience
  • This position is contingent upon your ability to pass a preemployment criminal history check and drug screen.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
Additional desired experience and skills:
  • Diesel vocational/technical school certifications
  • Welding Certification and/or 8+ years of experience
  • Combination of Cummins, CAT, International, Allison, Vermeer, Sweeper, Ford, GM, etc. training/certification and/or 10 years of experience
  • Advanced Hydraulic experience preferred
