The Wagner Rents Shop Mechanic may be responsible for performing incidental repairs, removing and replacing repairable sub-assemblies, evaluating damage to determine reusability in rebuild, troubleshooting equipment, and/or performing high level diagnostic assessments in a manner that reflects the company’s vision of working as “One Professional Team.” Depending upon education and experience, the Shop Mechanic may perform all or some of the Essential Functions listed below with or without direct supervision.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $22.50 per hour
Pay rate is dependent on education and experience.


Essential Functions:

  • Promotes a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Reads and understands the manufacturers’ Operation and Maintenance Manual per machine type and complies with its contents
  • Removes, disassembles, assembles, repairs, and installs components and parts as needed
  • Learns and understands how to use the work order system
  • Performs manufacturer’s scheduled maintenance up to 500 hours
  • Applies 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Sweep, Standardize and Sustain) principles following every job
  • Engages in required safety practices at all times
  • Attends training as requested
  • Completes overhauls as needed
  • Determines reusability of parts in accordance with reusability guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned by manager
  • Inspects machines returned from rental for customer damage and notifies the Shop Coordinator regarding any specific damage that was found
  • Provides technical assistance for field service calls, as needed
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment when the knowledge needed exceeds the skill level of other mechanics
  • Ensures all operating controls and functions are in compliance with Manufacturers’ specifications
  • Opens and closes cash drawer
  • Works effectively with others in the shop to accomplish the goals of the shop and Company
  • Inspects equipment and maintains equipment to ensure safe operation
  • Diagnoses system failures to determine root cause
  • Cleans, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
  • Assumes yard duties as needed; loads/unloads equipment, and cleans returned rental equipment with pressure washer
  • Keeps up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems
  • Tests, measures, and adjusts engine and machine systems and components within tolerances of manufacturer’s specifications
  • Services and maintains equipment sold by the Company
  • Documents the 4 C’s (Complaint, Cause, Correction, Complication) on Wynne work orders
  • Orders replacement parts
  • Accurately prepares service reports

Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from a technical school with emphasis on diesel engine preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year administrative/clerical experience
  • Minimum of 1 year customer service experience

Competencies:

  • Safety & Product Knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Basic knowledge of Windows/Internet
  • Basic Mechanical Aptitude
  • Understanding of diagrams and schematics
  • Data Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skills
  • Basic knowledge of Wynne (work order system) and ET/SIS/SIS Web/STW

Work Environment:

  • Noise: Moderate, Environment: Indoors and Outdoors
    • Specific Risks: Works with moving, mechanical parts; may work in high places and be exposed to equipment vibration and fumes

  • Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearing
