Duties
Duties Include:
- Monitors drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices.
- Tracks and monitors budget associated with vehicle maintenance.
- Ensures all individuals using fleet vehicles have proper licensure and up-to-date training.
- Provides recommendations on the leasing or purchasing of vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet, and develops methods to decrease costs and improve efficiency.
- Coordinates urgent or emergency repairs as needed.
- Assists Members and staff with vehicle emergencies in the absence of the Parking Security Mobile Repair Unit.
- Assists in vehicular training for new office staff concerning SAA vehicle policy, use of emergency vans, and the Parking Security Mobile Repair Unit.
- Assists with emergency evacuations.
- Coordinates drivers when setting maintenance vehicle schedules.
- Manages vehicle licensure and registration.
- Coordinates authorization and approval for use of fleet vehicles.
- Establishes efficient routes and transportation schedules.
- Maintains Sergeant at Arms (SAA) official vehicles to include scheduling regular maintenance on all vehicles.
- Maintains appropriate records and documentation pursuant to the SAA vehicle policy for SAA employees and vehicles.

Qualifications
Work Experience and Education:
High school degree or equivalent. Previous relevant experience working in or with a fleet of vehicles, preferably within the federal government. Experience in logistics or entry-level roles in fleet operations preferred but not required. Incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must be physically able to lift objects up to 50 lbs, stand for periods of up to 2 hours and walk distances of up to one-half (½) mile.
- Basic understanding of the procurement process.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication.
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- Great computer and customer service skills.
- Some fleet driver background desired.
- Must be able to set goals and motivate and train employees.
- Must be able to maintain a professional and courteous work disposition.
- Must be able to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
- Understanding of basic vehicle mechanics, including the ability to identify when major repairs are needed.
- Basic math and data analysis skills.
- Must be able to complete an approved training course(s) administered by the Sergeant at Arms office.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, permanent. Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (hours are subject to change). Must be able to work outside of normal business hours, when necessary, evenings and weekends as needed.
