About This Role:

Pacific Cascade, a World Group company, is currently looking for a dedicated, driven person to join our family as a Fleet Manager for our growing terminal in Tacoma, Washington!

The Fleet Manager is responsible for being a vital link between our trucking operations and our fleet of owner-operators. This role will build lasting relationships with our owner-operators that center around our core values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee fair and equitable distribution of loads amongst ICs and monitor IC safety scores & messages
• Perform Terminal Inspections
• Monitor contractor compliance and use discretion to take appropriate action related to DOT & compliance regulations, controlled substance suspicion, hours of service, and vehicle compliance
• Provide leadership and supervise our fleet of ICs, including the on-hiring process
• Negotiate rates with contractors outside of the ICOA, and monitor low margin accounts
• Accept and decline loads and coordinate with the Customer Service team
• Monitor and ensure effective and efficient delivery performance, fleet profitability, and compliance with regulations
• Plan and execute order of deliveries to create efficient load drop-offs and pick-ups
• Develop lasting relationships with ICs to improve performance and drive retention
• Coordinate required training for ICs
• Resolve customer, terminal, and rail disputes involving ICs
• Assign equipment to ICs as needed

Education and Experience:

• Ability to prioritize and accurately execute time sensitive tasks
• Computerized dispatch skills (experience using TMS)
• Experience working with fleet of contractors/owner-operators
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations
• Ability to multitask and thrive in stressful situations
• Ability to work a rotating weekend schedule and have shift flexibility as well as share 24 hour on-call availability
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Strategic thinker who is comfortable in a fast-paced, always-on, deadline driven environment
• High School Diploma or GED required
• 2-5 years of intermodal/container transportation experience
