RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build a culture consistent with Five Below core values. Drive tactics to improve engagement, reduce turnover and help build careers for ShipCrew
  • Engages daily with Dedicated fleets, logistics planners, RLT’s (Remote logistics teams) Domestic freight partners and terminals to drive key KPI’s.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and rate development for outbound and some inbound freight spend. Perform ongoing analysis of transportation costs to determine opportunities and actions for cost savings and optimization of transportation expense.
  • Leads bi-weekly meetings with key dedicated fleet stakeholders to update leadership on performance, and opportunities to develop and enhance the performance of the fleet. Responsible for management of any escalation and problem resolutions with all dedicated fleets.
  • Measure and strategize improvements for all aspects of transportation operations. Review linehaul performance, Manifesting compliance, Linehaul and load quality, inbound & outbound forecasting, and other transportation-related areas that impact budgeted cost and performance.
  • Develop and manage a tactical vision for transportation processes. Establish measures of performance are aligned with corporate metrics. Monitor site, review performance and anticipate issues, risks and challenges that sites may experience.
  • Drive process improvement to continue to improve dedicated fleet optimization.
  • Manages the fleet of currently 25 vehicles/expected to grow in the range of 75+ vehicles, including box trucks, tractors & trailers, including the oversight of vehicle repairs, vehicle maintenance, and responsible to audit and review any fleet related invoicing.
  • Work with RLT’s, supply chain, and terminals to identify and document continued opportunities to maximize and leverage dedicated fleets through continuous moves that reduces empty miles, reduces costs, and improves service.
  • Develop long term, collaborative partnerships with key vendors, carriers and businesses that increase productivity, decrease delivery time, optimize service levels and streamline costs. Ensure company standards are prioritized and that annual capacity needs are supported. Hold monthly performance meetings with all core carriers to ensure they are performing at or above our service standards.
  • Learn and communicate changes, trends and technology in the transportation industry. Attend industry conferences, visit Carrier offices, network with peers, and visit other DCs to learn best practices and to gain insight. Participate in local government and community efforts impacting company, and develop a business network of industry representatives.

Requirements

  • Task oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Thorough understanding of dedicated fleets
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; expertise in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Transportation Management System experience required
  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience with Dedicated Fleets
  • Must possess industry knowledge and terminology, effective communication, and analytical skills with the ability to quickly analyze problem situations and make fact-based decisions
  • Proficient in DOT requirements
  • Ability to set priorities, achieve deadlines, and manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred
