Fire Inspector - Fire Marshal

Conducts fire prevention inspections to ensure safety of Fort Bend County residents. Participates in planning of programs, policies, or objectives for work group and department.

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Strong verbal and written skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees and elected officials.
• Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
• Conducts fire prevention inspections of new and existing construction, written documentation of the inspections, conduct follow-up fire prevention inspections based on reports.
• TCFP Inspector, TCFP plans examiner; PREFERRED TCFP Structure Fire Fighting.
• Minimum of a valid Texas Class C Driver License.
• Works with and assists local, state and federal agencies with fire prevention inspections.
• Strong computer skills.
• Conducts Annual / State Fire Safety Inspections of state licensed facilities.
• Reviews plans to ensure compliance with county and state codes for new construction and progressive inspections.
• Good organizational skills, ability to prioritize own work and ability to complete assigned tasks within tight deadlines.
• Incident Command System 100, 200, 700, & 800 preferred; required to obtain within 1 year of hire.
• 2 years of job related experience.

SALARY RANGE $24.24 - $30.30 hourly based on qualifications
