About us:
Rivas Capital is an investment management firm headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with additional operations in the St Augustine / Jacksonville, Florida area. We're a small, dedicated group that places a great emphasis on collegiality and teamwork, encouraging a good balance between work and personal life. We empower our colleagues to suggest and initiate improvements to our business, including leveraging technology solutions that help small teams operate more seamlessly and effectively. Our mission is to advise a single family in its investment activity across a variety of asset classes, while providing essential business functions related to our mission. In support of our efforts, we have devoted significant resources to capturing our investment data, providing a multi-year dataset housed in Addepar's industry-leading, cloud-based investment reporting software, and detailed general ledger accounting in Sage-Intacct.
We provide our employees with excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits; a medical and dependent FSA program; short-term / long-term disability benefits; and, a 401k program to which we contribute. We also encourage training and development, and allocate resources each year for our employees to improve their skill sets.
The Opportunity:
Investment and client reporting is a strategic priority for our growing firm, leading us to search for a finance professional adept at maintaining our investment data in Addepar, while assisting our Investment Associate in creating high-impact but functionally distinct reports serving two constituencies -- our Chief Investment Officer, and separately, our clients.
This is an excellent opportunity to be an integral member of our small team, helping to ensure data integrity in our investment reporting, while solving other analytical problems, in a role that is expected to expand over time. A familiarity with principles of finance and bookkeeping is desirable, but candidates pairing accounting skills and attention to detail will find an opportunity to gain industry-specific knowledge while working in a collegial, team-oriented environment that provides an opportunity to work in person and remotely. You will work hand-in-hand with our Investment Management Associate, our Chief Financial Officer, and our accounting team on the following initiatives:
- Enter investment manager results into our Addepar reporting platform, including transaction accounting details (contributions, distribution, gains, losses, income, etc.) and periodic valuation updates
- Be a go-to resource for our Investment Associate on ad-hoc pieces of work
- Conduct account level reconciliation, including research and resolution of all breaks / adjustments in need of attention, while working with teammates to resolve data issues
- Work with our accounting team in the development of automations to more seamlessly move data between software
- Be a resource to our accounting team as we work to ensure consistency across entries
- Ensure accurate processing and tagging of upstream data
- Regularly review, and together with the team, perform quality checks on the data entering in our reporting software
About You:
- Interested in investment management, with curiosity at the intersection of finance, data analysis, and technology
- Have the ability to work independently while collaborating on the larger picture
- Have a strong team orientation as we are a small and dedicated group
- One to two years' of experience working in a financial operations and data management capacity or similar role
- Experience in investment management / investment reporting setting, having worked in an investment / wealth management or family office setting is advantageous
- Addepar experience is a plus, but not required, and we encourage applicants without Addepar experience
- Discrete in handling confidential information
- Love taking on challenges, rolling up sleeves, and finding better solutions to manual tasks using available technology
- Technically and intuitively minded when it comes to computer systems and applications
- Highly detail-oriented, accurate, and self-motivated
- Obtained a bachelor's degree in a discipline in which financial management / data-manipulation is an area of focus
You will be a member of a small but growing team, and we expect the opportunities to become involved in business initiatives and projects to grow over time beyond those described above, for someone with enthusiasm to grow with us.
