Job Description
Financial Planner
The TIAA Central Advice Group (CAG) writes and supports financial planning for TIAA Wealth Management Advisors, Advisory Consultants, and other client-facing associates. As a member of our planning team, the individual in this role will create high quality, accurate and compliant financial plans. The individual will also contribute to the quality and accuracy of financial plans built by client-facing associates. Further, the Financial Planner also uses excellent communication skills to provide on demand support to our Wealth Management Advisory teams via the Advice and Planning Helpdesk email and phone support lines.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • May lead small projects and make decisions that have moderate impact on the business.
  • Contributes to “continual improvement culture” by asking questions and sharing ideas. Perform other duties and responsibilities as business needs require and as requested by managers.
  • Answer questions for Advisors pertaining to specific plans, general planning questions or status updates on in process work, during scheduled shifts on the Advice and Planning help desk, with accuracy, objectivity and professionalism.
  • Help advisory team identify most critical client needs and then build, review and approve goal based financial plans modeled to address client concerns or show comparisons between alternatives when appropriate.
  • Provide planning points via email to the advisor to address client concerns and planning considerations.
  • Assist and support Wealth Management Advisory teams in their use of desktop planning tools. Contribute to department and company quality standards by reviewing plans built by Wealth Management Advisors and other client-facing associates.
  • Mentors junior professionals and support staff.
  • Work on building and approving financial plans for Wealth Management clients while maintaining quality, content and cycle time service level agreements.
Educational Requirements
  • University (Degree) Preferred
Work Experience
  • 2+ Years Required; 3+ Years Preferred
FINRA Registrations
  • SRC Indicator: Series 7; Series 63; Series 65; Series 66
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work

Career Level
6IC
Required Qualifications:
  • Certified Financial Planner Certificant or passed the CFP® certification examination
  • FINRA Series 7, 63 and 65 (or 66) required within 120 days.
  • 2 years of financial services experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Experience with financial planning software (ex. MoneyGuide Pro or NaviPlan)
  • Candidates with Series 7, 63 and 65 (or 66) strongly preferred at time of application.
  • Financial planning or advisor experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Base Pay Range: $62,200/yr. - $103,700/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
