This position is responsible for financial oversight of the assigned manufacturing location(s).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Act as internal consultant to plant leadership teams relative to impact of financial decisions on P&L statements.
- Oversee the financial processes and preparation of month-end close statements, including AR, AP, cost variance reconciliations, inventory reconciliations, general ledger entries, standard cost reconciliations, changes in fixed assets and forecast adjustments to budget.
- Review/Forecast the trends, cost/benefit, margin impact (make vs. buy, etc.) enhancing the decision making process for manufacturing.
- Support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives by ensuring projects have defined and clear financial objectives and results are tracked and ROI, Payback, cost savings and/or cost avoidance is verified.
- May provide review and/or input into capital process & provide guidance/assistance preparing AR’s.
- Ensure all plant and functional accounting activities comply with GAAP, company polices, internal controls and sound business practices.
- Provide support to corporate with the annual standard cost for labor & overhead cost, cash planning, and treasury activities.
- Oversee budget and trend forecast and assist the sites and functions to provide an explanation of variances.
- Interface with external stakeholders, e.g. banks, auditors, equity investors/firms, etc.
- Create forward-looking financial models and “what if” modeling capabilities.
- Complete in-depth analysis to uncover opportunities for improvement with a specific focus on maintaining and/or increasing profitability and alignment with the unit’s growth plan.
- Participates in monthly report-out sessions to present financials and, when necessary, financial recovery plans.
- Assists with preparation of annual, short- and long-term business plans and track compliance to unit objectives and targets.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The role will be responsible to coach and advise Finance Manager, Cost Accountant, Accounts Payable and Receivable teams.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (Accounting/Finance).
Minimum five (5) years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills and Abilities
- Execution-oriented and rigorous in meeting performance commitments.
- Experience as business partner to Operations Directors, Plant Managers, etc.
- Experience in manufacturing accounting roles with a focus on cost accounting.
- Fluent in English.
- Experience in managing projects and evaluating measures (ROI, payback, cost avoidance, etc.).
- Experience in manufacturing planning & budgeting roles.
- Prior experience as Director, Assistant Director, Auditor, or Controller, preferably in the automotive industry with multi-site responsibility.
- Solid verbal & written communication, analytical & leadership skills.
- Strong fundamental “know-how” in accounting/finance/business related topics.
- Ability to understand all changes in manufacturing strategy and provide insight & commentary.
- Strong manufacturing background in quantitative analyses & ability to solve complex problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Office setting in a Technical Center, Company HQ or in a manufacturing plant, depending on candidate commute and preference.
