Job Description
Overview


We are seeking a results-driven and hands-on colleague to join Kadant Johnson as a Controller based out of our Three Rivers, Michigan facility.


The Controller is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the Accounting and internal control activities for Kadant Johnson to deliver financial statements per Kadant Inc. and US GAAP requirements and analyses to support the Three Rivers operations.


Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the timely preparation of the consolidated financial statements
  • Consolidation of Kadant Johnson worldwide businesses and reporting to Kadant Inc.
  • Assume other special activities and responsibilities as requested by Vice President, Finance or Functional Leadership Team
  • Ensure protection of Company assets through internal controls
  • Compares performance with operating plans and standards
  • Active participation and analytical support of business management (Member of Three Rivers Functional Leadership Team
  • Responsible for long range planning of cash requirements, tax planning, and budgeting
  • Ensures maintenance of adequate financial records and control over processing and recording of all transactions for Kadant Johnson
  • Provides reports and interprets the results of operations. This includes the formation of accounting policies, the coordination of systems and procedures, and special reports as required for Kadant Johnson
  • Administration of Company credit and collection policies


Qualifications


  • Preferred experience in an international manufacturing firm
  • CPA or a minimum 10 years of experience ideally gained through increasing responsility in management positions with responsibility for accounts, budgeting, cost accounting, credit and collections, and finance
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting or Finance

  • Communication: Exercises solid listening, written and oral communication skills. Communicates in a concise manner. Interacts effectively with various levels of the organization. Modifies the communication style to suit the audience.


The successful candidate will have strong administrative and management skills and ability to work as a management team member. They must also have superior interpersonal abilities and the ability to get along with diverse personalities while remaining tactful, mature and flexible. The Controller must also be results and people oriented, with sound judgement and ability to balance other business considerations.
