Job Description
Our Client is a family-owned and operated industrial services company based in Jackson, MI. We are seeking a Controller to manage our Accounting/Finance, Administrative, & Human Resources Departments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, work papers, and documents for annual CPA reviews, administering insurance programs, implementing internal audits and controls, and managing day-to-day accounting activities. They will also develop, improve, and issue monthly financial records, provide financial analysis tools, and manage banking relationships. The Controller will work closely with top management to develop fringe benefit programs for employees and interface with outside audit firms, banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agents, and credit card companies. Responsibilities:


  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoice/billing, customer credits, and collections, and cost accounting
  • Ensure financial plans are consistent with the company’s goals
  • Develop, improve, and issue monthly financial records for top management
  • Prepare all financial statements and work papers for annual CPA reviews
  • Manage commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under highly competitive terms
  • Interface with outside audit firms, banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agents, and credit card companies
  • Work closely with top management in the development and economic evaluation of various fringe benefit programs for employees
  • Implement disciplines of internal audits, controls, and checks to protect assets and ensure accurate and timely recordings of transactions
  • Administer insurance programs including Health Insurance plans to union and non-union members
  • Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, and product costs


Qualifications:


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
