Join a great company that is experiencing exciting, rapid growth. Pet Food Express is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and hands-on Facilities Supervisor to join our Distribution Center Team in Oakley California.


Reporting to the Warehouse General Manager, the Warehouse Facilities Supervisor is critical role responsible for the maintenance and repair of all warehouse assets through direct, hands on work and/or the oversight of qualified contractors to ensure the warehouse and surrounding environment are safe, well kept, and conducive to operations. This role is responsible for organizing, updating and maintaining records of all warehouse assets, their preventative maintenance schedules, costs, and safety. The Warehouse Facilities Supervisor supervises the custodial team, scheduling and overseeing their day-to-day work and supporting their professional development by providing clear direction, guidance, coaching and performance feedback. We are looking for a candidate with the right mix of mechanical expertise, detail orientation, organizational skills and ability to energize a team, to join our operation.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage repairs and maintenance requests throughout the facilities via our ticketing system.
  • Conduct maintenance for assets that do not require outside contractors (i.e. watering MHE batteries, checking dock leveler operation, roll up door inspections, etc.).
  • Recognize and encourage exceptional performance while coaching and addressing those who require it.
  • Conduct weekly walk-throughs for all components and systems for equipment on the critical asset list.
  • Enforce all safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Manage a team of Custodians who perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the facilities, both inside and outside.
  • Handle emergency and non-routine cleaning, repairs, upkeep requests, and special projects
  • Manage service vendors and facilities maintenance needs with 3rd party contractors ie. HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, equipment, plumbing, etc.
  • Perform and document inspection and maintenance activities.
  • Model personal accountability, cultivate and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Partner with GM/Operations leadership, execute preventative maintenance plans for all infrastructure and equipment; restore, repair, rebuild, or replace faulty or inoperative components and parts on a regular schedule.
  • Take direction from GM relative to headcount, developing process, and managing attendance and PTO. Report non-compliance issues to Operations leadership.
  • Create and audit adherence to preventative maintenance schedules and maintain systems to ensure that all assets and the facility are fully functioning, clean and safe.
  • Perform regular evaluations of facility needs and ensure they are addressed in a timely manner accordingly.
  • Establish, maintain, and communicate required quantities of all cleaning tools, equipment, and operating supplies (i.e. Stretch wrap, corrugated, hand-wrap, custodial supplies, operating tools, etc.).
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs.
  • Inspect and report condition or issues with Pallet Racking systems, including pick module, VNA, and Pallet Storage Systems. Identify and address all safety issues, ensuring assets and equipment are safe for use by means of tag-out, repair, or replacement. May require internal, hands-on work or utilization of specialty vendor.
  • Act as primary contact for malfunction alarms in the freezer. Repair or call contractor for Mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues
  • Participate in and oversee the training of new and existing custodial team.
  • Provide honest, accurate, and timely feedback and guidance to custodial team and to management with regard to their performance, qualifications, development, and morale.
  • Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects.


Qualifications:


  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong awareness of what is happening in the facility and ability to see the bigger picture of what needs to get done.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and willingness to learn and challenge yourself on a daily basis.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in maintenance-related fields are a plus.
  • An uncompromising commitment to safe practices. Comfortable recognizing, assessing, and stopping unsafe practices if observed.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in pressure situations, operate with a sense of urgency and effectively cope with and lead through change.
  • 4+ years proven experience in facilities management role or similar, supervising and leading a custodial or maintenance team, preferably within a warehouse or distribution center environment.
  • Flexibility to support various shifts if needed and to be reliably present and on time. Pet Food Express operates two shifts, six days a week, Sunday - Friday.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance tools, equipment, and software applications (such as eMaintenance -Work Order / PO Software).
  • Proficiency in using Google and MS Office Suite software (i.e. spreadsheets, presentation, and word processing software).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience leading facilities teams, including coordinating and leading the work of vendors, contractors and stakeholders.
  • Previous experience managing facilities with refrigeration and strong knowledge of various maintenance disciplines, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general repairs.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage time and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to interact and collaborate with team, stakeholders and external partners.

The salary for this position is expected to be $75,000/yr - $85,000/yr. Pet Food Express determines starting salary based on many factors, including but not limited to, local market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation practices, a candidate’s actual skills and experience.
