Salary range: $150,000 to $170,000 per year

To land this Features Editor spot, you’ll need to be currently covering San Francisco in an interesting way or have completed a significant tour of duty in the City by the Bay. Cultural tourists need not apply. We’re looking for the real deal.

At this very moment, the world is watching San Francisco with incredible curiosity—and you’re just the risk taker to tell all the stories that need to be told. You also have a knack for the micro and the macro—meaning that while you know the ins and out around what plays hyper-locally, you also know what types of stories can punch out and go viral, globally.

You can look at a story with a fresh perspective and offer clear guidance to your carefully curated team of journalists. You’re able to structure narratives for high impact pieces, deftly edit articles, and help talented writers shine in a deadline-driven newsroom.

Your editorial voice, tone, and POV will illuminate trends in San Francisco politics, culture, and lifestyle. You will collaborate with visual and social media teams to ensure that your team’s stories reach the largest possible audience.

Bonus points if you’ve built a features section from scratch. Your early editorial training taught you how to lead, manage and communicate in fast-paced newsrooms. You know how to create and execute content strategy and build online audiences through social media, partnerships and beyond.
