Job Description
The Facilities Assistant will work under the supervision of the Maintenance/Safety Operational Manager on a variety of facilities and maintenance related tasks at our sites in Oakland, Berkeley, Pinole, Rodeo, Richmond, and San Pablo.


This is a full time, 40 hours/week, benefits eligible position.


LifeLong Medical Care is a large, multi-site, Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a rich history of providing innovative healthcare and social services to a wonderfully diverse patient community. Benefits

  • Ability to use tools and equipment following manufacture and safety guidelines.
  • Delivers office supplies, equipment and furniture to various locations. Mail delivery may be included as needed.
  • Performs office setups and equipment assembly.
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good working order.
  • Conduct oneself in internal and external settings in a way that reflects positively on LifeLong Medical Care.
  • Strong organizational, administrative and problem-solving skills, and ability to be flexible and adaptive to change.
  • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance checks.
  • Manages retrievals from and deliveries to storage; monitor off-site storage facilities.
  • Work activities may include but is not limited to installing faucets, and clearing drains; installing outlets, switches, replacing ballasts, fixtures; installing and adjusting door hardware; wall framing, patching and painting; and assists with mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
  • Ability work independently using professional judgment and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work occasional evening or weekend.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills and ability to effectively work with people from diverse backgrounds and be culturally sensitive.
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with a number of professionals with different work styles and support needs.
  • Commitment to the provision of primary care services for the underserved with demonstrated ability and sensitivity in working with a variety of people from low-income communities.
  • Under general supervision, independently performs a range of maintenance, repair and renovation work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks.
  • Performs scheduled yard and parking area clean-ups.
  • Assists in ensuring the safety of occupants and building users.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned by Maintenance/Safety Operational Manager.
  • Ability to follow directions.
