Job Summary


The Facilities Director is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all buildings, grounds, and vehicles owned or operated by the agency. This includes ensuring all safety and security standards are met, coordinating with outside vendors for repairs and renovations, and managing a team of facilities personnel. The Facilities Director will also be responsible for developing and monitoring a department budget, overseeing new construction and renovation projects, and conducting planning to ensure buildings and vehicles meet the needs of clients and staff.


Duties And Responsibilities


  • Develop and monitor the Facilities Department budget.
  • Establish positive working relationships with representatives of community-based organizations, other agencies, agency management, staff, and the public.
  • Ensure the agency complies with relevant laws, regulations and safety standards.
  • Manage facility and vehicle maintenance staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and trainings as directed.
  • Coordinate the activities of outside contractors who provide services to a facility and vehicles.
  • Schedule and manage routine maintenance and repairs on all building and vehicle systems.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, security and plumbing systems
  • Manage building grounds operations and ensure that facilities are well-maintained.
  • Direct the construction, maintenance, and renovation of buildings and other structures.
  • Mitigate risk and oversee safety and security related to building operations.
  • Develop and implement policies and safety procedures.
  • Develop and implement plans for the efficient use of buildings and vehicle resources.
  • Manage the custodial operations and ensure that facilities are clean and well-maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Inspect facilities and vehicles routinely.
  • Comply with procurement guidelines required by agency policies and funding entities.


Education/Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in construction management, engineering, business administration, public administration, or a related field; AND three years of facilities or general construction management experience.


OR


  • Associate's Degree in construction management, engineering, business administration, public administration, or a related field; AND five years of facilities or general construction management experience.


OR


  • High School Diploma or (equivalent) AND seven years of facilities or general construction management experience.


AND


  • Experience supervising employees.
  • Experience in overseeing budgets
  • Experience in project management.


Other Requirements
  • Health examination with tuberculin clearance.
  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) acceptable to KCAO's vehicle insurer.
  • Criminal Record Clearance including California DOJ, FBI and Child Abuse Centralized Index (CACI).
  • Reliable, insured transportation and valid California Driver License.
  • Work variable hours and days, including those outside regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours.
  • Meet and maintain KCAO hiring requirements which include:
  • Ability to be contacted outside of regularly scheduled work hours in case of emergency.
  • Travel and attend out-of-areas meetings and conferences as required.
