Job Description

DIRECTOR OF BRAND MARKETING


Our client is a privately-owned Beauty Brand who remains a leading expert in the hair category. Their innovative product lines continue to grow, expand, and thrive as does their commitment to doing good, philanthropy is at the heart of their brand. They have a long history of giving back, partnering with numerous charities dedicated to human rights, animal rights, sustainability, the environment and much more. And all their products are always cruelty-free.


They are currently expanding their marketing team, in search of a talented creative and analytical marketing leader to spearhead 360 campaign strategy for the fastest growing beauty brand in this company’s portfolio of brands. This marketing leader will own the brand “DNA” - campaign strategy and brand messaging to guide upstream and downstream marketing to build out programs and increase brand awareness for their growing natural brand. We are seeking a Marketing Executive that has a passion for the natural channel and telling ingredient stories around clean beauty and botanical ingredients and has experience within the professional and/or specialty beauty markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate on brand content creation, including overseeing model and product photoshoots.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Brand Manager, E-commerce, social media, Digital Marketing teams, and external agencies to ensure all marketing messaging and content is consistently on-brand across all platforms.
  • Partner with the VP of Marketing on new product concepts and tools for the Field Sales team, while collaborating with Trade Marketing to develop promotional opportunities that create a consistent sense of "newness" for the brand.
  • Lead the execution of launch strategies and campaign tactics for 360 cross-channel campaigns, working closely with cross-functional departments.
  • Work closely with the Creative team to ensure print and digital assets align with the overall brand "look and feel."
  • Develop and articulate the brand philosophy statement and identify core demographic audiences through comprehensive consumer research projects.
  • Collaborate with the Executive team to present brand strategy, marketing initiatives, and educational programs aimed at expanding the consumer base, increasing brand awareness, and driving sales in the professional/retail segments.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends and make strategic recommendations for new product development, including portfolio expansion and capitalizing on white space opportunities. Collaborate with Product Development and Research & Development on the development of new product concepts, including positioning and ingredient storytelling.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Creative, and Operations teams to support product launches with go-to-market plans that align with the brand strategy and drive sales growth, while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Support education programs related to brand initiatives, such as new product launches, training materials, and overall brand initiatives, in collaboration with the Education team.
  • Assist in preparing content for monthly and quarterly business reviews with the Executive team.
  • Continuously review analytics (e.g., Mintel), sales data, and competitive analysis, utilizing data to identify opportunities and risks, and proactively developing actionable plans to deliver results.
  • Partner with the Trade Marketing team to manage the promotional calendar, maximizing opportunities for anniversaries, new launches, and seasonality across multiple sales channels. This includes sales projections, artwork creation, budget analysis, and post-promotion sales review.


New Product Development:

  • Collaborate with the New Product Development (NPD), Research & Development (R&D), and VP of Marketing to establish and maintain an innovation calendar.
  • Work closely with NPD to define launch strategies and create assets to be rolled out across all channels, while presenting and gaining buy-in from key stakeholders.


Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in Brand Marketing within the Beauty industry (Hair Care, Skincare, or Personal Care).
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit coupled with a passion for working in a fast-paced, growing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business, or a relevant field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience directly managing team members and overseeing marketing operations.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Proficient in establishing and nurturing relationships with cross-functional peers to drive results. Ability to manage multiple teams, projects, and priorities efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in innovating new beauty products and driving product development from concept to creation, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Beauty marketing experience
  • Highly collaborative to partner with cross functional partners to create results.
  • Beauty/CPG experience ideally in the professional and/or specialty channels
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or similar
  • Analytical skill set to leverage consumer insights into marketing opportunities.
  • Strong presentation skills to present strategies and growth plans to Executives
