Job Description
Summary


Information & Responsibilities


Under the direction of the Vice President for Facilities, Development and Management, the Executive Director of Facilities Services provides leadership, supervision, and compliance with best practices in the following trades: facilities maintenance, grounds, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanics and minor capital construction projects.


Requirements


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to)


  • Direct staffing for campus events, student projects and outside rental
  • Work in concert with the Campus Safety and VP to decide and implement the appropriate course of action for emergencies; such as: fires, rainstorms, dorms, etc.
  • Manage facilities issues for schools, students, faculty, staff, and housing staff, including estimates, oversight and planning
  • Contributor on the Academic Space, Security, Safety and Disaster Planning Committees
  • Involvement and oversight of minor capital construction projects, vendors and renovations
  • Monitor and maintain data analytics within work order management system to measure performance and benchmarks
  • Provide direction and administration of personnel issues, payroll issues, and performance management issues
  • Direct and manage staff and trades to ensure they complete assigned projects, work orders on schedule and within budget
  • Collaborate with the California State Summer School for the Arts’ (“CSSSA”) executive staff and faculty
  • Monitor and maintain property/space management system to ensure proper preventive maintenance, routine maintenance and legacy servicing
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION


  • Bachelor’s degree or five (5) years of relevant experience


Experience


  • Five (5) years facilities management experience
  • Compliance with Federal and State regulations
  • Knowledge of multiple facilities trades
  • Budget administration
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience
  • Project management
  • Experience in a higher education setting a plus


WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL CONDITIONS (include but are not limited to)


  • Reach at, above or below shoulder level to reach equipment, files, or materials
  • Manipulation of computer keyboard and/or ten-key
  • Frequent walking
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing
  • Utilization of fork lift and/or golf cart
  • Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, gasoline fumes, fire retardant materials, natural gas, asbestos
  • Utilization of computer monitor, telephone, copier machine and other office equipment
  • Office environment with exposure to toner, white out, cleaning fluids, office equipment noise, talking, air conditioning and heating
  • Pushing/pulling open and closed doors, cabinets and drawers
  • Exposure to potentially dangerous situations during a disaster or safety issue
  • Exposure to general construction noise
  • Kneeling, stooping and/or crouching to reach files or materials or conduct inspections
