Position Details

Reports to: Superintendent

General Description: The Director of Career Pathways will create and oversee courses, programs and activities to help Covenant students identify and pursue careers after graduation. The Director will maintain strong relationships with local job training programs and assist with community relations and student recruitment.

Educational and work experience requirements:

• Career preparation and/or placement experience preferred
• Teaching and/or School Administrator certificate preferred
• School experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree

Essential skills and characteristics:

• Able to work individually or in a team
• Effectively verbal and written communication skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Excellent computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentations
• Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects

Primary responsibilities:

• Identify and implement courses, clubs and activities that teach career-related skills
• Describe the Covenant Schools Career Pathways program to potential students and members of the community
• Expose students to a wide range of career options through career exploration courses, speakers and field trips
• Perform all other tasks as requested by the Superintendent and YVS administration.
• Coordinate work-based learning and co-operative work programs
• Develop, oversee and teach career preparation/employability skills courses and activities
• Work with students to establish career preparation plans suited to their skillsets and interests
• Establish relationships with local institutions and programs that provide career training
• Assist with student recruitment and community relations
