Qualification:

(1)Bachelor's degree is required, a higher-level degree (particularly in areas that relate to education or storytelling) is preferred. Degree from an elite college is a plus

(2)A minimum of 2-3 years of admissions experience at a selective college or university is preferred. Experience as a private essay coach, or work as a counselor in high school or as an IEC is also valued. Experience as a professional storyteller (journalist, screenwriter, producer, etc.) is also a plus.

(3)In-depth knowledge of the college admissions and application process, with a passion for staying current with the latest trends in college admissions and counseling in particular for high achieving students in the top 10% of their class.

(4)A personable and engaging demeanor, making others feel at ease. Collaborative by nature and flexible in approach.

(5)Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, particularly in college essay editing.

Requirement:

(1)Provide dynamic one-on-one instruction to high school students on their college essays

(2)Work on a project basis, shepherding students through the entire college essay writing process, including the narrative and all supplemental essays

(3)Facilitate the writing process and provide in-depth feedback on essay drafts, conducting any necessary ad-hoc work along the way

(4)Model professionalism and strong organizational skills by managing students’ production schedules, replying to students in a timely manner, holding students accountable for all assignments, and tracking/logging hours worked

(5)Mentor aspiring college students with empathy and an innate understanding that the college application process is becoming increasingly competitive and stressful

(6)Paid training and professional development, including paid prep work and staff meetings
