Job Description
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Pharmacy (SOP) has an exciting opportunity for an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Coordinator. *This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Dean’s Administration. *The EDI Coordinatorwill provide administrative and project support. Serve as a contributor and active participant in the design and facilitation of EDI professional development, programs, and initiatives to faculty, staff and students. This role will help effectively position the EDI programs and services to ensure a positive, motivating employee experience. Assist with key priorities such as project management for events and related programming, managing, and maintaining databases, and coordinating diversity, equity and inclusion communication, marketing, and social media efforts. The successful candidate must have an understanding and knowledge of anti-racist practices and principles, and experience in advocating for diversity, equity and inclusion. PRIMARY DUTIES: * Coordinate program and event planning and delivery for EDI initiatives. This includes coordinating virtual training, affinity groups, meetings, other initiatives, and registration for events. * Contribute to the design and delivery of initiatives, trainings, presentations, workshops, and training related to diversity, equity and inclusion. * Provide content to the communication team to update and maintain various sections of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusive Excellence website. * Lead the creation and distribution of the EDI newsletter. * Promote diversity and inclusion activities, including creating and distributing fliers, posting in the bulletin, and coordination of related social media efforts. * Research, compile, and organize data for various projects and reports including EDI resource database and annual reports. * Create and distribute evaluations for EDI training and initiatives and assist with aggregation of results. * Assist in the organization of information from EDI assessments. * Actively research best practices related to EDI and anti-racism initiatives. * Support general functions via routine staff meetings, participation in campus events and signature EDI programs. * Other duties as assigned. * * MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree. Experience: One (1) year administrative or program coordination experience preferably involving diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Preferred Experience: * * Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, databases, etc. * Ability to complete responsibilities and projects with a high level of integrity, confidentiality and discretion. * Demonstrate cultural humility and respectful attitude towards individuals of diverse cultures and orientations. * Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members. * A deep understanding, awareness, and sensitivity to the experiences of marginalized people, and an understanding of the national trends and issues on diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. * Support and enhance the sense of belonging and success of those from traditionally marginalized populations. * Demonstrate commitment to and advocacy for self-evaluation/self-reflection to learn more about identities, systems and influences of power, privilege, and oppression. * Commitment to continuous learning, research, and best practices in the field of equity, diversity and inclusion. *Supervisory Experiences:N/A Certification/Licensure: N/A Other: Related experience to program may be substituted for education.
