Engineering Technician, Bodyshop, Cybertruck

The Engineering Technician is tasked with understanding and improving processes to ensure manufacturing lines produce quality products safely and efficiently. This role will interact with many cross functional teams and will require flexibility to support Engineering, Quality, New Product Introduction (NPI) and additional organizations. A process tech is the go-to person to evaluate necessary changes to the line, support quick fixes and to improve line reliability.

Responsibilities:

Provide daily coverage of production line processes to ensure smooth and effective operations, including a rapid response to out-of-control processes to minimize cost and maximize productivity Investigate and implement countermeasures to improve product yield.

Evaluate all the joining related issues, provide and implement temporary and permanent solution for the same.

Troubleshoot the joining equipment during downtime. Evaluate equipment performance on regular basis. Take actions to prevent premature failures on the equipment

Perform checks / Preventative maintenance on joining equipment like, resistance weld controllers, SPR, lasers, drawn arc stud welders, Adhesive equipment.

Perform calibration on equipment on regularly defined period

Perform joining inspection task using ultrasonic testers, chisel, visual test, etc.

Do regular / rigorous cleaning of equipment, keep then clean neat and up to date

Take charge of the area and do maintain 5S

Perform torque test on bolts and nuts using a torque wrench or push out tests.

Execute experiments and analyze data under the direction of Joining engineers.

Lead special case disposition of non-conformance materials produced by the production line and escalate to the production engineering team as needed.

Maintain and help develop up-to-date maintenance and calibration procedures and schedules.

Trial new parts and process in conjunction with the new product engineering team.

Perform Quality Audits to proactively identify potential issues working with the quality engineering organization.
