Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skills and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of high school.
- Requires successful completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program and four years full-time journey level electrician experience; or 8 years of full-time journey level electrician experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers experience in making rough sketches and estimate time, labor, and materials necessary to complete work orders.
- Prefers extensive knowledge of the tools of the trade such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters and other calibration and testing equipment and apparatus.
- Prefers experience with maintaining records related to the work.
- Prefers experience with instructing and/or directing trades helpers, inmates, and/or unskilled workers or semi-skilled workers.
- Prefers experience in reading, interpreting and working from blueprints, simple sketches, and drawings.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Requires the ability to pass a preemployment physical
- Requires the ability to pass a background check.
- Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to travel.

Separate bureaus administer programs and services directed at conserving the state's land and water resources; protecting the health and welfare of livestock and companion animals; overseeing state and county fairs; regulating seed, feed and fertilizer products; ensuring the financial stability of grain dealers and warehouses; promoting Illinois food and agricultural products; and operating the state's horse racing program.
