UW Facilities manages the University’s buildings, infrastructure and land, with more than 1,100 employees in a variety of fields. The Asset Management group includes Capital & Space Management, Real Estate, Sustainability and other teams responsible for planning and workload management. The Operations group includes Project Delivery, Maintenance & Construction, Campus Utilities & Operations, Building Services, Transportation Services and Safety. Supporting these groups, as well as the separate Emergency Management team, are the Business Intelligence & Information Technology group and the Finance & Administration group. Maintenance & Construction (M&C) is responsible for general maintenance, repair, and renovations of all University of Washington (UW) main campus facilities including building interiors, exteriors, and grounds, as well as logistics, moving, and disposal of surplus equipment and furniture.
Facilities Construction is the in-house provider of minor alterations, improvements and tenant renovations including architectural, electrical, and mechanical projects, cabinetry, and campus and building signage.

- Demonstrated successful experience as a lead or supervisor.
- Demonstrated proficiency with standard productivity software including Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent products.
- Experience with understanding, troubleshooting and repair of complex motor control circuits serving physical plant equipment including over-current device selection and settings.
- Experience with the setup and programming of PLCs in motor control applications.
- Knowledge and experience with Predictive Maintenance Technologies, which may include vibration analysis, infrared imaging thermography, data-log analysis and power quality analysis.
- Experience with programming, startup and diagnostic repair of variable frequency drives (VFDs).
- Demonstrated successful experience working with computerized maintenance management systems.
- Experience with the programming, troubleshooting and repair of commercial lighting automation systems (various manufacturers).
- Experience with commercial electrical distribution systems including emergency power, life safety and equipment branch systems, transformers, busway systems and motor control centers.
Conditions of Employment:
- Washington State journey electrician's license and/or evidence of certification or obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
- Must participate in medical screening/monitoring (such as TB screening and proof of measles inoculation) required for work assignments in locations, including but not limited to, nonhuman primate areas, the Animal Research and Care Facility, and the University of Washington Medical Center.
- Work may require access to confined spaces and heights using appropriate safety precautions.
- Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in a non-smoking environment.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Must be able to be fitted for and wear a respirator on the job.
- Approved footwear must be provided at the employee’s expense and worn on the job
- Possession of a valid Washington State Driver’s License or a license recognized as valid by the State of Washington.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials is required.
- May be required to accept variable work shift.
