Job Summary:

The Electrical Drafter will be responsible for preparing 2D drawings and 3D models for the design of complex offshore/onshore E&I systems utilizing CAD software. The entry level drafter will perform tasks under close supervision and guidance of senior designers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create and edit 2D or 3D drawings from instruction (written or verbal) provided by more senior designers and/or engineers (supplied markups);

• Create basic drawing layouts with appropriate verbal instruction;

• Create electrical one-lines from P&IDs & equipment list with appropriate guidance and instruction;

• Create power installation details with appropriate guidance and instruction;

• Create grounding system and installation details with appropriate guidance and instruction;

• Create lighting installation details with appropriate guidance and instruction;

• Create area classification plans and details with appropriate guidance and instruction;

• Create electrical block diagrams with appropriate guidance and instruction;

• Create electrical schematic diagrams appropriate guidance and instruction;

• Create electrical wiring diagrams appropriate guidance and instruction;

• Create and detail control panels / junction boxes appropriate guidance and instruction;

• Create electrical details with appropriate guidance and instruction;

• May participate in supervised sites visits;

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• Requires accredited drafting training and discipline training or have prior working experience;

• Requires a minimum of one (1) years to five (5) years’ of electrical drafting and design experience relating to Upstream and Downstream Oil & Gas facilities;

• Proficiency with design software (e.g. AutoCAD) required;

• Proficiency with PDMS preferred;

• Proficiency in performing drawing corrections from supplied mark-ups;

• Requires proficiency with scale drawings using model space/paper space;

• Requires basic knowledge of electrical terminology and symbology;

• Requires basic knowledge of NEC and IEC;

• Requires basic knowledge of OSHA;

• Requires basic knowledge of electrical equipment and materials;

• Requires basic knowledge of the major types of electrical drawings;

• Requires basic knowledge of P&IDs;

• Requires basic knowledge of electrical drawing types;

• Requires basic knowledge of wire & cables types and nomenclature;

• Requires basic understanding with functions of other disciplines and the drawings produced by other disciplines;

• Requires understanding of the areas where electrical interacts with other disciplines;

• Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations;

• Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere;

• Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;

• Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;

• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;

• May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;

• May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
