Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in early childhood education, special education, or a behavioral science; supplemented by two years of experience as a social worker and/or providing early childhood developmental assessments or behavioral health services to children; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License and certification in the state of Georgia as a professional counselor, clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist, psychologist, psychiatric nurse, or rehabilitation counselor. May require certification in Special Education according to position assignment.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Individualized/Intervention Family Service Plan for children with developmental delays from birth to five years of age. Responsibilities include conducting on-site screenings, assessments, and evaluations; training childcare providers; referring children for developmental and behavioral health assessments; and coordinating meetings between family members, developmental specialists, and other health professionals.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Individualized/Intervention Family Service Plan (IFSP) for children with developmental delays from birth to five years of age.
Assesses and documents the level of functioning of children of assigned program age and their progress toward attainment of goals.
Performs chart audits: reviews intake charts and outgoing charts; reviews and revises information in program database as necessary; reviews Special Instructor and Service Provider notes; logs in submitted protocols; finalizes IFSPs; and reviews transfers.
Provides community consultation, education, and prevention services: provides information; coordinates meetings between family members, psychologists, and childcare educators of children from birth to five years of age for possible referral to appropriate intervention/social services agencies or other professionals as needed; and prepares and disseminates information as appropriate.
Coordinates work of Primary Service Provider (PSP), Special Instructors, and Service Coordinators: attends PSP team meetings; provides feedback on decisions made; provides administrative and state updates; reviews provider/instructor documentation; monitors case logs; and addresses program related issues and/or problems.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including intake packets, client charts, application documents, PSP and contract provider notes, protocols, assessments, and evaluations; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including PSP audits, Transition audits, Special Instructor audits, policy documents, etc.; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Conducts staff training and development for childcare providers.
Conducts and/or coordinates on-site screenings, assessments, and evaluations of children with developmental delays from birth to five years of age for possible referral to appropriate social services agencies.
Coordinates treatment, team meetings, and client case staffing.
