Early Cancer Diagnostic Assay Consultant

ICR’s Cancer Research Lab has an ongoing biofluid multi-biomarker-based early pan-cancer diagnostic assay program. The consultant will primarily be responsible for continued quality improvement for this program. This position requires demonstrated experience in developing a successful human biofluid, biomarker-based early cancer diagnostic assay, and an intimate understanding of the current state-of-the-art in the broad field of biofluid biomarker-based early cancer detection.

• Study and understand in depth the goals, plans, methods, preliminary results, resources, and details of the ICR Cancer Research Lab’s Biofluid Multi-Biomarker-Based Early Pan-Cancer Diagnostic Assay Program
• Review every scientific report, proposal, and work order produced by the Program in a timely and efficient manner
• Offer detailed, practical suggestions, consistent with the state-of-the-art in this field and the resources available to the ICR Cancer Research Lab, to substantially improve early pan-cancer diagnostic assay performance
• Spearhead, direct, and manage any new projects with external contract research organizations (CROs), after approval by the ICR Director and ICR Cancer Head, to help accomplish ICR Cancer Research Lab diagnostic assay goals
• Efficiently respond to suggestions for assay improvement from the ICR Director and ICR Cancer Lab Head
• Appraise new advances in this broad and fast-moving field for their possible application to the ICR Cancer Research Laboratory on a continual basis

Please apply if you have:

• Demonstration of the ability to offer advice for the continual improvement of a pan-cancer early diagnostics program with defined resources and timelines
• A PhD, MD, or both and at least ten years of experience in the field of human biofluid multi-biomarker-based early cancer detection
• A detailed understanding of multiplex antibody-based quantitation of protein concentrations in human biofluids, NGS-based methods for cell-free DNA analysis, Vortex and DEP Array methods for circulating tumor cell analysis, and other state-of-the-art diagnostic methods
• Demonstrated experience in implementing a successful, world-class pan-cancer early diagnostics program
• A detailed understanding of all current machine learning and related mathematical methods for cancer prediction algorithms, and an expert understanding of probability and statistics
