The D & I Specialist will advance US Foods' Employee Resource Groups strategy by providing input, strategic guidance and support to the Groups. The D& I Specialist 's responsibilities will include: interacting with Employee Resource Group (ERG) Leadership teams to ensure events and activities are aligned with US Foods' mission and overall Diversity strategy, support the strategies to leverage ERG activities and to mitigate any risk associated with planned events, allocation of resources and record keeping for resource groups, including budgets, communications (social media, website, etc.), overall accounting of membership and influencing ERG leadership for optimal outcomes.
The Specialist will manage and support special projects in relationship to D & I strategy such as; providing support and collaboration with D & I training, in partnership with Talent Management and Learning & Development. D & I research which will inform strategy and implementation, as well as cross enterprise efforts such as roundtable discussions, campaigns, external partners' community events and team engagement activities.

The Specialist works closely with cross functional collaborators such as, Corporate Communications, HRBP, legal, Supplier Diversity, Sales, etc. building strong relationships enterprise wide bringing impact to the success of ERG's efforts and projects. Possess Diversity Awareness/Sensitivity to be aware of, understand, and promote behaviors that are respectful of the diverse cultural, ethnic, racial, religious, gender, education, age, sexual orientation, linguistic, professional, and other differences that make us unique. This includes clearly communicating and reinforcing aims and goals of team, diversity, unity, cooperation and excellence.

This role is a Hybrid schedule in Rosemont, IL. The work is a combination of onsite (2x week) and remote as defined by the role segmentation.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
Employee Recourse Group (ERG) :
  • Provide strategic guidance, support and problem - solving consultation to the ERG's leadership teams to ensure alignment between the groups Strategic Plan and US Foods' Diversity Strategy.
  • Review and support the VP of D & I with the approval process for the Annual ERG strategy plans, providing facilitation and guidance to the ERG in developing plans.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to leverage ERG involvement in activities (e.g., External Relations, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development).
  • Partner and collaborate with cross functional Diversity & Inclusion Council to define goals and outcomes for the ERGs and identify opportunities for achieving those outcomes.
  • Leverage US Foods' ERGs to meet enterprise overall corporate diversity objectives
  • Manage and support measuring and reporting on ERG ROI in partnership with the Analytics Team.
  • Support the process for the evolution from ERG's to BRG's / Business Resource Groups.
  • Identify and align resources to support current and any future ERGs; as well as structure expansion and re-imagining model positioning.
  • Inform VP of D & I about situations when mitigating any risk associated with planned events and /or stakeholders is appropriate.
  • Partner with the Learning and Development to develop and implement professional development programs that meet ERG member needs.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the ERGs relative to the interpretation of company policies as it pertains to the ERG Handbook and US Foods Corporate Policies and Code of Ethics. Maintain ERG handbook, ensuring timely updates and accuracy of content.
  • Support and manage the development of a comprehensive communication strategy for ERGs to address the approval process for communications, timeline and appropriate vehicles to be used.
Special Projects:
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; adapt quickly and accurately adjust priorities based on new information.
  • Evaluate / measure initiatives / programs to analyze effectiveness and satisfaction levels; provide recommendations for continuous process improvement.
  • Supports the development of long-term strategies and key initiatives (mentoring, training, external partner activities coordination) to promote and achieve the D & I strategy and implementation goals impacting an inclusive culture.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Related Experience/Requirements:
  • 3 years of specific experience in managing or creating diversity programs and/ or employee initiatives is required

EDUCATION :
Bachelor's Degree required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Support with managing budgets including forecasting and accurate allocation of resources to ensure maximum value.
  • Ability to manage and continually report on ERG efforts in order to capture all outcomes, improvement opportunities, and next steps.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in Diversity and Inclusion programs, priorities, best practices, and employee engagement activities in large, decentralized organizations.
  • Exceptional relationship building and networking skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software, particularly MS Word and MS PowerPoint; MS Excel.
  • Ability to manage projects with multiple priorities, target audiences, and outcomes.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of strategies and action plans requiring the identification and utilization of resources in a matrix environment.
  • Has an interest and passion in diversity demonstrated by involvement in resource groups, diversity training, mentoring, and/or external community-based involvement.
