Job Description

YOUR ROLE


Accountable for planning, prioritizing and managing all inbound and outbound freight distribution operations and warehouse usage. Establish business controls focused on quality management processes and cost control methodologies. Provide leadership and developmental training for warehouse staff to achieve company goals and profit levels. Continued business growth and long-term relationships with customers and ensure compliance with company policies, ISO guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.


** Please note this role is not fully remote - role can be based anywhere in the US, but will require travel up to 50% and onsite work when support is needed at different facilities. **



WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?


Typical Responsibilities:

  • Review staff scheduling for peaks and valleys of workload to assure maximum productivity with minimal or no overtime usage.
  • Follow up with supervisors to ensure problems and issues are addressed and resolved.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all staff within department and address all employee performance problems promptly and directly in accordance with personnel policies of the Company.
  • Develop fully staffed and trained team that provides effective organizational capabilities and depth.
  • Personally coach, train and mentor direct reports and provide career development opportunities through training and quality management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and lead operations initiatives within the site that improve operational efficiency, best practices deployment, process standardization, asset utilization and exceed customer metrics (cost, quality and responsiveness.)
  • Utilize superior communications skills to motivate staff and develop effective working relationships with peers, executives and clients.
  • Provide overall direction in the planning, prioritization and management of freight distribution operations and warehouse usage to ensure timely delivery and quality service.
  • Ensure that the warehouse facility provides a clean, professional and safe working environment for all employees.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technology changes and innovations through formal or informal study, reading business and professional publications, networking and participation in professional organizations.
  • Oversee and manage the professional development and productivity of all staff members to ensure proper goals, training, professional development and project requirements are met.
  • Review pending jobs or trends, plan for reorganization of warehouse space and needed changes in levels of supplies, equipment or staffing.
  • Effectively leverage and deploy support resources to pursue continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support new business growth and development with the region.
  • Ensure staff are trained in the correct procedures for operating company equipment and that freight is being expedited in a safe and timely manner.


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?


Skills

  • Capable of communicating and interacting effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and customers.
  • PC Literate. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific applications.
  • Knowledgeable of company policies, ISO guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to manage the financial aspects of the department (purchasing, budget preparation and review, financial reporting and monitoring expenses).
  • Demonstrated success in leading, supervising, managing and developing high performance teams.


  • Makes customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; develops and sustains productive relationships.
  • Ability to maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition; handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and the organization.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects and set priorities.
  • Basic understanding and experience in project management methodologies.
  • Ability to develop and use collaborative relationships to accomplish work goals; develops individual relationships by listening, sharing ideas and appreciating others' efforts. Uses appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to help build a cohesive team and facilitate the completion of team goals.

  • Ability to allocate decision-making authority and/or task responsibilities to others to maximize the organization's and individuals' effectiveness.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.


Education and Experience:


Minimum:

  • In-depth knowledge of receiving, stock movement, inventory control, distribution practices and standard business practices.
  • Knowledgeable of the operational requirements of all existing accounts.
  • Forklift Driver Certification.
  • Valid state issued Driver's License.
  • Ability to operate forklift, hand truck and pallet jack.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Minimum five to seven years related experience.
  • DOT Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Materials Certification.


Preferred:

  • Minimum four years industry experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field preferred or equivalent combination of work experience and completion of the LDP Program.
