Position Summary:

Orbital seeks an experienced Program Manager to manage preclinical development for our named programs across therapeutic areas as well as key research initiatives in our platform development. This individual will establish the program management function at Orbital and work closely with colleagues in R&D, Finance and Strategy.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop program plans with clear timelines, and deliverables.
  • Administer day-to-day activities for assigned programs, including, facilitating cross-functional team meetings, leading discussions to drive decisions, preparing agenda and meeting minutes, defining, and resolving actions items.
  • Proactively identify and escalate gaps and challenges; managing team through scenario planning to solve problems.
  • Prepare regular program status updates and presentations.
  • Develop and scale stage-appropriate capabilities, tools, and processes as the company’s portfolio grows and matures.
  • Work with the Finance team to develop and track program budget.


Qualifications:

  • Experience with conflict resolution and problem solving in real time.
  • B.S. required, with preference on candidates with an advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D., MBA, etc.).
  • Presentation skills and experience with project management tools.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in the life sciences industry, with at least 3-5 years of demonstrated program management experience leading cross-functional teams in biotechnology.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, influence and integrate a team, identify barriers, and manage budgets, timelines, and meeting plans.
  • Experience driving preclinical development, particularly in cell and/or gene therapy programs is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership and team building skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the R&D phases within a fast-moving biopharmaceutical organization.
