The Role
The FMR LLC Corporate Tax Department is seeking a Director to become a member of the Tax Planning team within Fidelity’s corporate tax department, providing support on a wide variety of tax matters to Fidelity business teams, including financings, restructurings, various business ventures and related acquisitions and dispositions. This position will be responsible for working with our partners to develop business solutions, as well as manage deal flows and will be expected to monitor relevant legislative and regulatory changes to U.S. and foreign tax laws, advising on the impacts to Fidelity’s businesses and advising on appropriate responses. The ideal candidate will have a background in corporate tax/consolidated groups, partnership tax and/or transactions, and will be comfortable communicating tax-related concepts to audiences with varying degree of tax expertise.

- Collaboration skills and the ability to work as a team member in a team context; ability to build relationships with a range of partners across the company
- Willingness to learn new areas and manage matters to completion
- Ability to translate rules and work with non-tax colleagues to develop solutions and manage transactions
- Strong communications and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate sophisticated legal concepts clearly and efficiently
- Comfort with tax laws, regulations and practices, including those related to corporate tax/consolidated groups and/or Subchapter K
- Exceptional judgment to analyze complex legal and business issues in a variety of substantive areas and escalate those that need additional attention
- Ability to work independently under pressure in a dynamic environment that will require you to manage multiple, competing tasks simultaneously
- Excellent advocacy and project management skills
- Highly organized, self-motivated and self-directed, but comfortable with reporting lines that require acquiring approvals and buy-ins from numerous constituents
- J.D. or C.P.A. with 4+ years’ relevant Big 4, law firm or industry experience as a practicing attorney
The Team
The FMR LLC Corporate Tax Department team is composed of more than 50 lawyers and CPAs who advise and support on tax matters across the Fidelity organization, including the firm’s asset management business. Team members are based primarily out of Fidelity’s Boston office.
