What You'll Do

Esdec is looking for a Director of Sustaining Sourcing as part of our growing Operations team. As the Director of Sustaining Sourcing, you will be responsible for seamlessly taking over and effectively managing a global network of vetted & qualified suppliers from our NPI Sourcing team. You and your team of 5 Global Sourcing Managers (GSM) will be responsible for maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with all suppliers to ensure that all 3 of your internal customers (EcoFasten, IronRidge, PanelClaw) benefit from lowest costs, sufficient production capacity, highest quality, reliable service & continuous improvements in other essential areas of the relationship for the full life span of the product or supplier relationship.

To be successful in this position you must have the ability think strategically and be able to come up with long-term vision, objectives, strategies & KPIs for meeting the objectives and achieving the vision for your department in order to exceed expectations of your internal customers. You must also be willing to be hands on and roll up your sleeves when needed to ensure tactical execution by your team, suppliers, and other internal & external parties.

As part of Esdec Solar Group’s shared services Operations team which looks after the best interests of all U.S brands / business units (EcoFasten, IronRidge, PanelClaw) in the areas of NPI, Strategic Sourcing, Quality Assurance, Logistics & Fulfillment, you will be a key member of the liaison group between suppliers and the respective business units and your main responsibility will be to ensure healthy, prosperous and long-lasting relationships that delivers the highest value to both Esdec & the suppliers.

Essential Functions And Key Responsibilities

• Identifying product cost reduction, sustainability, supply chain diversity and other improvement opportunities and presenting to management and cross functional stakeholders for consideration.
• Using data analytics, KPI’s and effective communication channels with business units, suppliers and other stakeholders to monitor & improve GSM performance in managing their assigned commodities / categories / products & business units.
• Collaborating with Finance & Accounting, Product Management and other internal stakeholders of each business units to complete standard cost reviews, TCO analysis and provide historical and forward-looking cost analysis & scenarios.
• Staying informed and updated on macroeconomic and geo-political indicators and developments affecting commodities, manufacturing, logistics… and identifying and recommending potential opportunities to be capitalized and potential risks to be mitigated.
• Taking part in daily / weekly and other periodic supplier calls to address pending issues related to costs, capacity, quality, service, continuous improvement and other essential matters between all sides.
• Supporting the Quality Assurance team in ensuring quality of products and services provided by the global network and in ensuring that the Sustaining Sourcing department & suppliers comply with the organization’s ISO-9001, ISO-14001, ESG and other best practice and regulatory requirements.
• Reviewing supplier price & other terms and conditions change notifications, verifying degree & reasons for change, working with suppliers to mitigate or minimize change, obtain Sourcing Manager, Purchasing & Accounting approval, update ERP and other records with updated terms & conditions.
• Developing & maintaining streamlined and effective system for managing departmental documentation for internal and external use.
• Provide periodic reports and updates related to supplier performance, cost trends, volume trends, regional trends, commodity trends… to head of Operations and other management.
• Developing strategies, tools & processes to improve efficiency & reliability of communication with internal & external parties.
• Working with NPI Sourcing team, suppliers and other internal stakeholders to make seamless transitions of products and suppliers from the NPI to the Sustaining phase; taking responsibility for maximum contribution and value from the newly qualified product and supplier.
• Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, executing and maintaining supplier contracts.
• Analyzing data, trends & other factors in developing sourcing & procurement strategies to minimize costs, optimize production capacity / efficiency, improve quality and ensure constant supply continuity.
• Monitoring and maintaining complete & accurate supplier, product cost, capacity, and other essential data in company ERP system (MS D365)
• Scheduling periodic business reviews by working with planning, purchasing, NPI, quality, logistics and other internal stakeholder and suppliers to allow for alignment on mutual expectations & performance by all sides via ESDEC supplier performance score card.
• Traveling to supplier sites for periodic business reviews or on as needed basis for urgent matters / projects.
• Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
• Collaborating with the planning, purchasing & sales operations departments of all 3 business units in analyzing and validating product demand forecasts & other needs & expectations, ensuring appropriate supplier agreements / contracts & essential resources are in place with the T-1 & lower tier suppliers to meet business unit expectations.
• Supervising & providing managerial support to a group of Global Sourcing Managers (GSMs) assigned with specific commodities / categories / products / business units.
• Supporting the Logistics team in optimizing inbound & outbound logistics of product shipments from global supply chain to Esdec Solar Group regional warehouse or direct to customers.
• Maintaining accurate and up to date records of supplier contracts, terms, conditions & other essential records in ERP & other shared systems for cross functional usage.
• Improving Sustaining Sourcing data analytics by supporting the development and owning the Global Operations Dashboard showing essential KPIs & metrics related to costs, volumes, spend, capacity, service & quality performance by product, supplier, region, business…

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, And Other Requirements

• 3-5 years’ experience using ERP preferably Dynamics 365 & other suite of Microsoft products.
• Outstanding verbal, written communication, and presentation skills with individuals of varying roles and responsibilities cross functionally.
• 3-5 year experience in sourcing & manufacturing industrial & mechanical products manufactured from aluminum, steel, plastics and other similar commodities using extrusion, stamping, die casting, injection molding, roll forming, cold heading and other similar manufacturing techniques.
• 3-5 year experience & advanced knowledge of business intelligence tools & processes including data mining, analyzing, modeling, visualizing.
• Extensive experience solving complex planning, purchasing manufacturing, quality, logistics and other complex operations & supply chain problems using sound problem solving methods.
• Must be able to travel 25%-40% of the time domestically or internationally.
• 7-10 year experience working in global supply chains and in product based organizations.

Education and Training Requirements

• Fluent in English & Spanish / Mandarin / Cantonese is a plus.
• ISO certified internal auditor / Six Sigma green or black belt.
• Microsoft D365 / Power BI / Qlik Sense certification
• APICS / CPIM / CPSM certification.
• Masters / MBA in Economics / International Business / Supply Chain / Operations.

Where You'll Be Located

This position is remote, with a preference for candidates near one of our U.S. locations (Hayward, CA; Phoenix, AZ; North Andover, MA).

What We'll Offer

We offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, education and location. We anticipate the base salary for this position to be between $130,000 and $150,000 annually, if located in the Bay Area market. In addition to base salary, Esdec Solar Group employees are eligible for either an annual bonus or commission, depending on their position. If your desired salary falls outside of these rates, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.
