Director Of Sustainability Jobs

The Director of Sustainability is a strategic-minded sustainability professional with expertise in designing and implementing resiliency strategies and possessing a strong background in agricultural land and water management, along with cross-functional leadership capacity.

This role will be accountable for, but not limited to the following responsibilities:

Water Resource Resiliency & Land Management

• Limited oversight and participation in construction management, project management, land/property management, and other farm operations
• Assist in oversight and engagement of water resources
• Perform a major role in ensuring improved resiliency to natural resource risks such as water availability, climate change, nutrient and pest management, renewable energy, watershed conservation, and native habitats

Resiliency Strategy, Planning, and Development:

• Coordinate with other local, mainland, and global teams to ensure alignment on resiliency topics, strategies, and goals
• Overall responsibility for the success and long-term vision of sustainability and resiliency and integration of sustainability practices across key businesses and functions
• Lead the development and execution of sustainability strategies resulting in the organization becoming climate positive
• Advise the Board of Directors and other internal leaders on priority resiliency issues

Resiliency Projects and Engagement:

• Build and manage relationships with strategically important external partners to stay informed on emerging trends, standards, and issues that may impact the business and wider industry
• Oversee a highly cross-functional team responsible for corporate sustainability commitments, reporting, internal and external partnerships, and investments in initiatives that help progress net zero carbon goals
• Build external community networks and communicate as the face of the organization’s sustainability program in broader industry forums and engagements
• Attend industry conferences and events to stay informed about the most recent resiliency trends, issues, strategies, solutions, and technologies
• Maintain and improve the organization’s brand value relative to sustainability and resiliency

Leadership:

• Build, scale, and lead with empathy a high-performing and inclusive team, setting ambitious, measurable objectives and goals which will have a direct impact on the organization’s sustainability commitments
• Uphold company values, culture, and ethics and hold teams to the same standards

Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in business, sustainability, and/or corporate responsibility preferred
• Strategically minded and commercially astute with a proven capacity to translate information and ideas into actionable plans
• Proven experience preferred designing meaningful goals and KPIs against which to measure sustainability performance
• Experience communicating to audiences with the willingness to represent the company’s interests at the highest levels
• Results-driven project management skills, experience leading and executing effectively, and showing significant results are highly desired
• 7+ years’ experience in resiliency and sustainability with knowledge of environmental and climate-related issues
• Experience anticipating future trends across the industry to influence, create and drive strategic impact, engagement, and communication
• Experience fostering and managing partnerships with private sector partners, NPOs, governments, and multilateral organizations
• Internal partnership skills and experience working across multiple teams in a large organization, aligning goals, and developing execution plans
• A credible industry thought leader experienced in engaging with and communicating with key internal and external stakeholders, across a variety of initiatives and industry forums
• Industry experience and understanding of the marketplace, emerging technologies, and commercial dynamics
• Strong experience aligning with existing sustainability frameworks such as GRI, CDP, TCFD, SBTi, and SASB preferred
