Job Description

The Director of Sourcing is primarily responsible for leading the Sourcing Department which consists of a team of Sourcing Managers responsible for the intake, development, processing, and negotiation of sourcing projects (including benchmarking, RFx Events, project tracking, category management, and sourcing best practices). The position will act as a leader to the team and collaborates with management on processes and key initiatives. The Director will develop and refine operational processes to ensure efficient and timely review of sourcing projects, effectively manage and motivate Sourcing Department staff and performance, maintain and ensure compliance within Keck Medicine of USC policies, work collaboratively within the Supply Chain team and leadership to improve the quality of services provided to the Medical Center, build and foster relationships with Medical Center departments and end users, manage and assist with other Supply Chain department initiatives as needed.


Essential Duties: • Manage teams and work cross-functionally to accomplish business objectives relative to contracting and sourcing systems, operations, materials management, clinical and non-clinical categories and reporting. • Manage the team and build team capacity to ensure the growth of the company and individuals. • Plans, develops, and performs the education required to foster and sustain a fully integrated culture of sourcing review, focusing on value analysis, product standardization, cost-reduction and value-based negotiations, financial reporting, Diversity Equity and Inclusion and Sustainabilty centric, and fiscal responsible resource utilization for all member of the Health System including but not limited to Senior Administration, Medical Staff, Clinicians, Ancillary departments and Support Departments. • Lead and manage staff by providing oversight and coaching. Develop performance goals and conduct regular feedback sessions. • Communicate goals, objectives, and strategy to cross-functional leadership and project teams. • Establish and monitor appropriate performance metrics for teams through periodic dashboards for all supply chain teams defining key metrics for day-to-day operational efficiencies as well as strategic level review for overall process enhancements. • Prioritize Sourcing Departments Operational initiatives with focus on transparency, accountability, and goal achievement. • Develop and monitor an integrated plan between Sourcing, Contracts and Key stakeholders identifying opportunities for savings through Benchmarking sources, industry trends, key operational initiatives and contract expirations highlighting project pipeline with achievable goals. • Collaborates with Sourcing managers, contract managers and all levels of management staff to ensure timely and efficient processing of contracts and monitoring of renewals; responsible for ensuring that departments are notified of expiring contracts within 90 days; manages the utilization of the contract routing system. • Work with business unit leaders to ensure the operation goals meets their needs from a budget and efficient process standpoint. • Collaborate with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; solicit, evaluate, and apply suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness of sourcing and contracting processes. • Structure and prioritize work to achieve specific KPI’s to help meet key stakeholder goals for project completion and process enhancements. • Develop strong relationships with key business units and decision makers. Conduct annual planning sessions to act upon business units’ short/long term strategic and tactical objectives. • Manage the end-to-end contracts and sourcing operational process to support project delivery and identify gaps for constant improvement opportunities. • Participate as a subject matter expert on future procurement and contracting program projects when projects are being developed to change or enhance processes. • Coordination of cross functional teams ensuring processes meet all regulatory, compliance, security and fiscal goals and requirements of the organization, collaborating closely with Compliance Office, Office of General Council, Business Services, Health System IT, Supply Chain, Health Care Finance, and Executive Administration teams. • Oversite of key multidisciplinary projects from an operational and monitoring perspective included by not limited to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Sustainability, etc , working directly with strategic leaders to make sure operational functions are aligned with strategic efforts. • Conduct needs assessment, analyze spend, optimize supplier base, and identify opportunities to improve cost, productivity and quality. • Identify areas of opportunity to improve process efficiency/automation, cost savings, and improved end user experience. • Lead cross-functional team through strategic sourcing process. Market research, create vendor pool, select purchasing methods, develop, evaluate potential vendors, and metrics to measure vendor performance. • Oversite, Monitoring and Process management of Third-Party Supplier Performance Management Program for the Health System, which includes but is not limited to annual assessment of vendor performance, coordination with UPC vendor portal process, categorization and documentation for vendors related to key drivers like DEI, Sustainability, and product categories. • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Req High school or equivalent • Req Bachelor's degree • Req 7 years Sourcing and procurement. • Req 5 years Management • Req Strong working knowledge of procurement agreements, spend analytics, and strategic sourcing/negotiation concepts. • Req Strong leadership and motivational skills. • Req Excellent project management skills, including the ability to set project objectives, determine and address potential barriers, identify required resources, identify process steps and milestones, and adjust action plans to achieve desired outcomes. • Req Strong supervisory skills, including the ability to hire, train, evaluate and discipline staff. • Req Working knowledge of human resources concepts. • Req Working knowledge of relevant industry trends and issues. • Req Strong verbal and written presentation skills and the ability to provide clear information for senior management administrators. • Req Strong interpersonal relationship skills both in one-on-one and group situations. • Req Ability to interact effectively with senior MD, Clinical leaders, administrators, and vendors and suppliers. • Req Excellent skill in negotiating and exchanging ideas with others and to arrive jointly at decisions, conclusions or solutions. • Pref Leadership experience in large-scale Health Systems or IDNs. • Pref Comfort reporting to and interacting directly with Chief Officers and Clinical Leadership. • Pref PowerBI/Tableau capabilities. Required Certifications: • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required within City of LA only). The annual base salary range for this position is $110,240.00 - $181,896.00.
