Job Description
Who are we hiring?
The Director, Show Production is responsible for all production elements related to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Reporting directly to the SVP Show Production, they will be responsible for all aspects of production including, but not limited to, production planning and execution, crew staffing, scheduling, budgeting, technology integration and assisting with the development of new creative elements and future New York Productions. The Director, Show Production will work with Union labor workforce as well as venue management on a daily basis. The ability to successfully multi-task and collaborate in an energetic and time-sensitive environment is of the utmost importance.
What will you do?
  • Participate in vendor negotiations and communications with prominent level creative and technical teams.
  • Responsible for administering all event planning with venue departments including, but not limited to, Venue General Manager and all Venue FOH / BOH Operations, Union Department Heads, and other outside unions such as Wardrobe & AGVA.
  • Generate and maintain budgets with timely updates throughout the event process through constant analysis and diligence
  • Work directly with Christmas Spectacular planning team for off-site events such as, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, The Lighting of the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center and other highly visible, special events across our business platform.
  • Proactively collaborate with Marketing and Public Relations in-house team leaders to plan for potential future special events both in-season and out of show season to build budgets, workflows and schedules.
  • Responsible for administering and stream-lining all event planning for the Christmas Spectacular from advancement, being on-site for load-in, rehearsal and technical schedule through performance calendar and load out of the physical production.
  • Work with outside production vendors such as design houses, scenic shops, production suppliers of sound, lighting, staging, video and video content creation, pyro, and automation.
  • Oversee Production Stage Manager department. Create budgets, schedules, assign guidelines for show management, create off-site unique events process and protocols to be adhered to.
  • Work with Production Team to help streamline payroll administration process across the business platform.

What do you need to succeed?
  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Technical knowledge surrounding production specific items involving but not limited to rigging and engineering review, power provisions, industry standard safety protocols, Union regulations and processes specific to I.A.T.S.E, Theatrical Teamsters, Wardrobe, AGVA and scenic builds. Experience supervising union crews is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively or independently when necessary and use sound business judgement.
  • Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationships with a diverse group.
  • 8-10 years working experience in Live Event Production Management with direct responsibility for supervising and directing staffs across a wide range of operating functions in a changing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and exceptional mindfulness.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • AutoCAD working knowledge with ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in time sensitive manner.
  • Demonstrate integrity, tact, diplomacy, and a commitment to company values and principles.
