Overview
Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Teacher Experience, the Director of Teacher Finance plays a pivotal role in ensuring our program's accessibility and affordability for all. This involves devising and implementing innovative initiatives to facilitate financial support, managing relationships with financial partners, and effectively communicating available resources to applicants, teachers, and alumni. The Director of Teacher Finance also oversees the enhancement of systems and processes that enable our educators to access their entitled benefits. This role involves managing two key positions: the Assistant Director of Teacher Finance and the Assistant Director of AmeriCorps.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
Strategic Planning for Program Affordability
Set annual engagement goals for teachers and alumni to interact with financial opportunities and partnerships, and implement initiatives to achieve these objectives.
Lead efforts to make our program more affordable and accessible, conducting research to identify trends and issues, and developing strategic recommendations.
Enabling Financial Access
Identify applicable financial aid and assistance offerings on federal, state, and local levels to enhance the teacher experience and remove financial barriers.
Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Teacher Finance to create a clear timeline for financial matters, ensuring its effective communication on our digital platforms.
Establish a systematic approach for disseminating timely financial information to cohorts through various channels.
Measuring Success
Achieve a 90% engagement rate with Mariner Financial Wellness for new residents by the end of Summer Institute.
Attain engagement rates of 80% for Fellow Year 3 and Fellow Year 4.
Secure AmeriCorps enrollment rates of at least 90% for rising Fellow Year 1 and 80% for rising Fellow Years 2 & 3.
Enhance teacher satisfaction with and access to financial benefits by 50% between Year 1 and Year 3, as measured by teacher surveys.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
3+ years of experience in financial aid/assistance, financial wellness services, or a related field
Profound understanding of financial aid programs and policies
Familiarity with financial wellness resources available to educators
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong people management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Proficiency in project management and multitasking
Experience in virtual team collaboration
Experience in delivering training sessions, especially in a professional development context
