We are a dynamic and forward-thinking team within the field of education, seeking an experienced Learning Technologist to join our Learning Management Systems team within the Teaching and Learning division. Our team is known for its creativity, analytical mindset, and entrepreneurial spirit, allowing us the freedom to drive impactful changes. We collaborate closely with instructional designers, faculty, staff, and programs the to enhance the learning experience.
Position Overview
You will be at the forefront of educational technology. Your role will encompass proficiency in best practices, Learning Technology Interoperability, Analytics, and the ability to rapidly grasp new technologies. In this position, you may also lead training sessions for Carey faculty and staff, fostering their understanding of innovative tools and methods.
Key Responsibilities
Course Development and Enhancement (30%):
Collaborate independently or with teams to develop and test novel technologies.
Provide technical guidance to team members and faculty for effective technology adoption in online courses.
Consult with faculty on instructional technologies like Canvas, TurnItIn, Microsoft Teams, Voicethread, Zoom, and Poll Everywhere.
Advise and assist faculty in integrating instructional technologies into different course formats.
Contribute to onboarding processes for new faculty and staff, offering technological support.
Facilitate the integration of reusable learning objects, like videos and lecture captures, into courses.
Course Delivery and Support (35%):
Offer support in instructional technologies such as Canvas, TurnItIn, Microsoft Teams, Remote Proctor Now, and Zoom to faculty and teaching assistants.
Provide timely troubleshooting, assistance, and training to faculty, program managers, staff, and teaching assistants.
Conduct one-on-one or small group training sessions during the term.
Address technical challenges that arise during the term.
Collaborate with other Johns Hopkins schools and Central IT to resolve Canvas-related technological issues.
Technical Development and Research (15%):
Assume administrative or leadership roles in designated eLearning tools.
Stay informed about developments in instructional technologies.
Research and share educational technology resources and best practices.
Training Workshops and Resources (15%):
Develop and deliver training workshops, introducing instructional technologies to faculty, students, and staff.
Create training assets in various formats, promoting effective technology use.
Design and distribute educational technology resources and best practice guides.
Additional Responsibilities (5%):
Undertake other tasks as assigned, contributing to the team's overall goals.
Qualifications

Manage multiple projects, adhere to deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
Proficiency in online synchronous programs like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Expertise in Canvas, Cidilabs, Canvas , Interactive Media development tools (Storyline, H5P, Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia), video, and audio.
Employ quality assurance and accessibility tools.
Address accessibility concerns using common tools (MS Word, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, Excel).
Utilize MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Exhibit adaptability and the ability to learn on the job.
Apply adult learning theories and emerging technologies.
Maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, or a related field.
Two years of progressive experience in course design, faculty training, or program/course assessment/evaluation.
