In partnership with members of the Senior Administrative team and other colleagues, the Director of Strategic Communications is responsible for advancing the school's brand, mission, program, and goals through internal and external communications. The individual in this position is responsible for the School’s strategic communications plan and oversees content creation and deployment across all of Green Vale’s channels (web, social media, photography, videography, public relations , email, school app, newsletters, and print publications). Reporting to the Head of the School, the Director of Strategic Communications will be a visible, collaborative community presence, forging relationships with faculty/staff, students, parents, alumni, and key volunteers to exchange information across the community. They will partner effectively with other

members of the Senior Administrative team.

Qualified candidates will possess at least five years of experience in a related field and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred. Green Vale seeks candidates who are skilled, creative, innovative, and adept at employing technology. Effective writing and speaking skills, a good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an appreciation of the unique qualities of the age group are essential.

Primary Responsibilities

I. Head of School communications

II. Technology oversight / Responsible for optimal use

III. Social Media curate & produce content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and

YouTube, TikTok

IV. In-house work: provide consultation and content for the following:

• Advertising (Media side)
• Crisis management communications
• Admissions communications
• Development communications

V. Other

• Source content & visuals, write all articles, fact check
• Produce annual Green Vale Magazine

VI. Brand Management

• Oversee the GVS branding and all usage/manifestations schoolwide
• Ensure we have quality photos, videos, and news content to share
• Coverage of GVS events and value proposition

VII. Internal Communications (oversee school-wide communications received by

parents)

VIII. Oversight of special projects

Required Skills

• Ability to produce written materials in a variety of formats quickly, accurately, and effectively
• Demonstrated excellence with all existing and emerging social media and other electronic technologies.
• Experience writing and editing press releases and content for varied audiences
• Executive presence and ability for high visibility at events to represent the school
• Exceptional attention to detail, precision, and accuracy in tasks; strong organization and time management skills; and the ability to perform non-routine work with changing priorities and aggressive deadlines
• Strong knowledge of graphic design
• Basic understanding of digital photography
• Ability to develop communication campaigns and oversee content production
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong interest and experience working with social and new media, understanding the nuances of social media messaging for a variety of platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and HootSuite, and others, to leverage these technologies for marketing, advertising, communications, and public relations purposes
• Proven excellence in collaborating with a team and managing other employees
