Duties and Responsibilities
1. *Direct and co-direct special projects and programmatic activities of William S. Richardson School of Law (WSRSL).
2. *Provide comprehensive and strategic project management of all law school accreditation, compliance, and regular reporting requirements, including, but not limited to, the American Bar Association (ABA), the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), the US News & World Report (USNWR), and the National Association for Law Placement (NALP); existing law school programs and activities; new law school initiatives and innovations as requested by the Dean.
3. *Work closely with the Dean, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for Student Services, and Director of Career and Professional Development to develop and implement timely long and short-term goals for the Law School's initiatives critical for the successful re-accreditation of the law school.
4. *Develop and manage the self-study, accreditation, and site visit process.
5. *Support the development of new programs such as the On-line J.D. and Business Bootcamp programs, as well as enhancement of existing programs such as the Pacific Islander Institute, Jurist in Residence, and Thai Judges programs.
6. *Manage special projects such as, annual awards and alumni ceremonies, speaker series, special orientation programming, faculty and staff retreats, J-term program support, charity drives, and other special programs and projects.
7. *Provide leadership on opportunities for special projects that are revenue generating.
8. *Plan and coordinate outreach programs locally, nationally, and internationally.
9. *Manage initiatives linked to the Law School's certificate programs in Environmental Law and Pacific and Asian Studies, the Ka Huli Ao Center for Excellence in Native Hawaiian Law, and additional initiatives in response to the new Hawaii Rule of Professional conduct on Technology.
10. *Work closely with the Law School Public Relations Specialist to improve and expand written and electronic communications about WSRSL projects and initiatives.
11. *Work closely with Law School faculty to manage program activities related to centers, institutes, and projects such as the Medical Legal Partnership Program, Family Law, Elder Law, Criminal Law, and Immigration Law programs.
12. Supervise administrative support staff.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Arts, Education, or other related field and 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for program management in a professional school environment, or equivalent education/training or experience.
2. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques in project management in a professional environment as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with special projects in a professional school environment.
4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members.
7. Demonstrated ability to operate personal computers and apply word processing software.
8. For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.

  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Five years of administrative leadership experience in a law or professional school.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Law School operations, including student, academic, admissions, and enrollment programs.
  • JD degree.
