Job Description
Position Summary
The Special Projects Manager is responsible for leading and executing strategic initiatives within YWCA USA, focusing on the organization's mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. This role involves managing high-impact projects, fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams, and ensuring alignment with YWCA's mission and strategic objectives.
Accountabilities
Project Management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals, facilitating effective communication and decision-making processes.
  • Mitigate risks and proactively address potential challenges, developing contingency plans and adapting strategies as required.
  • Design, plan, and execute high-priority special projects, ensuring proper scope definition, stakeholder involvement, and resource allocation.
  • Assess project performance using quantitative and qualitative metrics, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing improvement strategies.
  • Promote effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, cultivating a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Guarantee projects align with YWCA's mission and strategic objectives, ensuring integration and synergy across all initiatives.
  • Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, proactively identifying potential bottlenecks and adjusting as needed to maintain progress.
Strategic Initiatives
  • Contribute to the development and execution of organizational strategy, providing insights and expertise to inform strategic planning processes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders, fostering collaboration and cooperation to achieve shared objectives.
  • Recognize and prioritize opportunities for growth and impact, conducting thorough research and analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and implement creative solutions to address systemic issues, leveraging innovation and best practices to maximize impact.
  • Utilize data analysis to inform decision-making and evaluate project feasibility, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of key factors and potential outcomes.
Leadership and Collaboration
  • Offer mentorship and guidance to team members and colleagues, supporting professional growth and skill development.
  • Represent YWCA USA at meetings, conferences, and public events, showcasing the organization's impact and commitment to social change.
  • Act as a thought leader for racial and gender justice, staying informed on relevant trends, research, and best practices.
  • Advocate for YWCA's mission, values, and goals within the organization and the community, championing racial and gender justice in all initiatives.
  • Cultivate a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and innovation, fostering an environment where diverse perspectives are valued and respected.

  • Proven success in leading and implementing high-impact projects.
Nice to have
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as social work, public administration, or nonprofit management. A Master's degree is preferred.

  • YWCA USA is a remote first office environment; you will collaborate with colleagues who are based across the United States. You should be prepared to either work from home or a location of your choosing.
  • This role requires prolonged periods of sitting, using a computer and phone.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday during core hours and occasionally on nights and weekends as needed.
  • This role is required to provide proof of COVID vaccination.
  • This position may require occasional travel.

Compensation and Benefits
In order to counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, salaries are non-negotiable for new and current employees. YWCA USA salary bands for a given staff level are benchmarked to the 75th percentile for our sector, and all new employees are paid at the entry point of those bands. Employees then have the opportunity to progress through current salary bands through annual cost of living increases and performance-based pay increases, and into new salary bands through promotions.
