Job Description
Position Overview:

S:US is seeking a Director of Social Services for our families with children shelter located in Brooklyn.

This position is located at 882 Dumont Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11207

Salary:

Minimum Salary: $70,000.00/Yr.
Maximum Salary: $75,000.00/Yr.


The Director of Social Services will:

  • Provide supervision, guidance, and performance evaluations to clinical supervisor, housing specialist and program assistant.
  • Enforce corporate compliance protocols, SUS employee policies, procedures, and protocols, and incident management policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain CPR/ First Aid and Mandated Reporter Certification.
  • Facilitate periodic staff meetings and case conferences as appropriate.
  • Manage clinical operations of family shelter based on city, state, and federal regulatory requirements and DHS contractual requirements.
  • Assist in the development of job skills training curriculums suitable to the population served.
  • Monitor the integrity of client data and ensure that internal chart reviews are conducted consistently and regularly.
  • Participate in division management meetings as needed.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Vice President, and Urgent Housing.
  • On call 24 hours per day and ensure that there is a contingency plan in place.
  • Ensure all interactions support the mission statement and core values of SUS.
  • Monitor the provision of and documentation of all services provided to clients.
  • Complete written reports to division management, SUS executive management, and funding source/s as required; clinical progress and highlights, consumer census, housing and employment placement.
  • A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required.
  • Participate in professional development and training through agency-wide in-service trainings, outside trainings, and facilitate in-house trainings for staff.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • NYS Licensure required (LMHC, LMSW, LCSW)
  • Master’s degree in the human services field is required
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience in a large shelter or residential facility that provides comprehensive social services, housing placement, and job skills training to the homeless, mentally ill, and chemically dependent populations.
  • A work schedule that includes some weekend and evening hours will be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Knowledge and experience in NYC Dept. of Homeless Services contract requirements preferred.
  • SIFI Certification preferred not required.
  • English/Spanish speaking preferred
  • Social Work degree preferred.
