To join the sales team, we are looking for a qualified and experienced director of sales. In the corporate, governmental, and individual business travel markets, the director of sales will plan and carry out effective outside sales solicitation efforts. In order to maximize hotel profitability and provide excellent service to our guests, the director of sales will build new business partnerships and preserve existing ones.
Responsibilities
- The Director of Sales will develop and implement successful outside sales solicitation activities in the Corporate, Government and individual business travel marketplace
• The Director of Sales will develop and maintain existing business clientele relationships, ensuring maximum profitability for the hotel and quality service for our guests
• Meet or exceed the annual sales goals and budget within assigned market BT/Government travel segments
• Adhere to the hotel’s sales guideline and book profitable business based on need times, including but not limited to prospecting, telemarketing, outside sales calls, site inspections, and presentations
• Maintain a close relationship with current accounts through phone calls, emails, appointments, correspondence, and entertainment
• Uncover new business and qualify leads gained from outside sales calls, tradeshows, and networking events
• Research new sources of business by using various media and community resources
• Comply with company sales reporting standards, company sales office and system standards
• Conduct superior negotiating skills in a professional, business-like manner
• Communicate with other hotel departments about all necessary Sales information for the timely and professional execution of commitments
• Develop and execute sales action plans to close on targeted accounts and or business within a market segment
• Identify and qualify the market for major room night demand generators and suggest strategies and tactics for respective markets with the Area Director of Sales, and update on market fluctuations and changes within the comp set
• Develop relationships with industry professionals, local businesses, key community leaders and city officials to create awareness of the brand
• Attend community networking events, meetings and/or tradeshows as assigned by the Regional Manager
• Has command of all programs, promotions and services of Steel Hospitality, and those of its primary competitors
• Maintain realistic working relationships with competitive sales representatives to ensure referrals and co-op bidding
• Demonstrate leadership in timely execution of specific assignments
• Assist in other departments as requested
• Perform all other duties as directed, developed or assigned by the Area Director of Sales/VP of Sales
Qualifications
- 5+ years' of experience in sales
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Strong leadership skills
- 3+ years' of sales leadership experience
