Press release: Mercedes-Benz to launch global branded high-power charging network, starting in North America
What You Will Do
The Director of Network Operations will be a key member of the High Power Charging NA team and part of the larger Network Operations group, the central operational command center (think COO-like) for the entire business. In this role, you will manage a large portion of the Company’s operational scope, ensuring maximum efficiency, timeline, scope and budget adherence across site sales, development, and operations and maintenance. You will work closely with almost all major teams to make sure the Operational “train” is running on time, providing leadership to influence the successful outcome and attainment of key performance indicators and other critical metrics. This will be a highly cross-functional role that requires the ability to lead through influence, manage complex processes and timelines across competing programs and initiatives, and see through “noise” to find the true “signal,” helping clearly communicate the facts of the business (good or bad) in measured data and reporting. You will partner both internally and externally, serving as one of the main points of contact for the Company’s development partner – MN8.
Key Responsibilities
  • Site Partner Relationship Management: Serve as key point of contact for site partners throughout operational lifecycle, coordinating with respective internal and external teams. Operate as single point of operational support and outreach.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review and optimize operational processes to enhance productivity and streamline workflows. Implement best practices and automation wherever possible to drive operational excellence.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance and address any deviations.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate project updates, performance metrics, and operational insights to senior leadership and stakeholders. Provide transparent and timely updates to keep all relevant parties informed, including owning on-going operational meetings between the Company and its development partner, as well as with relevant executives.
  • Risk Management: Track, evaluation, escalation, and mitigation in the direction of shareholders as well as business partners and service providers.
  • Program Planning and Execution: As the Network Operations Manager, you will oversee and manage the planning and execution of all EV charging infrastructure projects in North America. This includes coordinating with cross-functional teams, setting project timelines, and ensuring successful delivery within budget and scope across site sales, development, and operations and maintenance, including energy management and customer support.
  • Project Management: Lead a team of skilled professionals to execute multiple charging infrastructure projects simultaneously, including between the Company’s and its development partner – MN8. Utilize project management best practices to monitor progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure timely and successful project completion.
  • Vendor Implementation: Work with procurement to successfully manage the operationalization of core non-product procurement workstreams, including relationships with third-party vendors and suppliers involved in the EV charging infrastructure projects. Negotiate contracts, evaluate vendor performance, and optimize resource allocation for maximum efficiency.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with finance teams to develop and manage budgets for program operations. Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and allocate resources effectively to meet financial targets.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations across all charging sites. Implement and maintain comprehensive safety protocols to protect both personnel and the environment.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilize data analytics to monitor key performance indicators and generate insightful reports on project progress, site performance, and operational efficiency. Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure that all charging sites meet Mercedes-Benz's standards of excellence.
  • Site Operations: Ensure that all charging sites are operating effectively and efficiently. Collaborate with site operations teams to address any issues promptly and maintain high standards of performance and reliability.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills with a demonstrated ability to oversee complex projects from initiation to completion.
