Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in the planning, development and implementation of the company’s network architecture and in the management of that environment.
  • Trains and orients Discovery Land Company staff on use of hardware and software.
  • Assist staff to provide hardware/software support to both local and remote users and is available to troubleshoot via phone as needed.
  • Actively develops knowledge base articles and working guides for company IT staff to facilitate uniform processes for system and application troubleshooting and problem resolution and maximize staff efficiency and expertise.
  • Responsible for managing IT departmental, club network sustainment and project based budgets, requirements, and participate in design review with Discovery IT staff and applicable local and corporate LV vendors to ensure timely and responsible network services delivery.
  • Provides project scope and definition. Anticipates project deviations, and defines and implements risk mitigation strategies. Oversees the process to enable changes to defined scope of the project as required.
  • Serves as senior responsible party for the club IT staff and operations
  • Be able to affect or sway a course of action by using strong perceptive skills and leadership traits to reach and build consensus in diverse groups.
  • SQL Server, LAN/WAN connection, customer service, and recommends and takes corrective action(s) as required.
  • Internal Communications Management – Maintains timely communication of progress and status of each projects.
  • Oversee, mentor and augment IT staff technical support of desktop computers, applications, server systems and related technology.
  • Develop and track a process for Issues Management, which contains all issues identified to date for each project.
  • Must be flexible and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Determines IT department staffing requirements and develops and monitors staffing budgets, participates in interviews and selection committee for club IT staff and has responsibility for appropriate shift scheduling, coverage requirements and succession planning to ensure highest level customer and club support.
  • Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop, server and networking systems to include hardware and software.
  • Serves in the role as primary engineering resource to troubleshoot problems with all facets of the company technical operations including but not limited to the applications
  • Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop and server platforms, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines.
  • Mentors and trains staff responsible for desktop, server system and component ordering for both headquarters and project locations.

  • Problem solver with ability to navigate complex problems
  • Five plus years of managing a team providing IT solution delivery and day to day end user support
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, an advance degree may be preferred
  • Five plus years of experience as a Manager of IT
  • Five years of any system integration or large system functional experience
  • Extensive experience with concepts and principles of one or more related fields or departments
