Job Summary:

The Director of IT represents the strategic direction of the IT Department as it relates to corporate strategy and makes strategic and tactical decisions accordingly. This role requires a proven track record of managing technology for effectiveness and improving the tech stack while providing a high level of customer service. Mastery in understanding the technology trends in the mortgage industry and aptitude for IT issues and infrastructure combined with the leadership and ability to manage multiple functions and make strategic and tactical decisions accordingly. The management style fosters a healthy team environment, supports Evergreen’s convictions, and strives to provide a wow customer service experience to our internal and external customers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Attend industry conferences and other similar events to maintain and grow technology acumen.
  • Develop and maintain the Technology Roadmap while implementing key objectives as defined in the IT business plan. Ensure the technology capabilities are responsive to the needs of the company’s growth and objectives.
  • Enhance and support our technology platform through partnering with key stakeholders while remaining up to date on technology trends and how to leverage internally.
  • Serve on senior level business planning meetings and participate in annual manager workshops and retreats.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and add or remove relationships as necessary in support of the company’s growth and objectives.
  • Leverage data and reporting to measure system performance to make improvements where needed.
  • Maintain exceptional relationships with other business leaders to grow the technology to better support the business.
  • Direct and manage IT strategic plans, policies, programs, platforms, and schedules and advise senior management on strategic system conversions and integrations that support business goals and objectives.

Management & Leadership

  • Responsible for IT staffing and ensure we hire candidates who are aligned with our convictions and exhibit ideal team player qualities: humble, hungry, and smart.
  • Exercise staff oversight to ensure new operations plans, policies, procedures, and transition/migration plans are consistent with the overall company goals and objectives.
  • Create an environment where all associates in the technology department have a development plan and career path that supports continual learning and growth.
  • Grow and maintain phenomenal relationships with all of Evergreen’s associates through fanatical support and desire to serve.
  • Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.

Teamwork

  • Build growth plans to match the technology direction to ensure training and support is readily available to align the team with the technology roadmap.
  • Support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the organization.
  • Reinforce team approach throughout technology department with a focus on over communicating major items and key initiatives defined in the business plan.
  • Ensure regular team meetings occur in each business unit within technology and support team building events outside of the office.

Customer Management

  • Customers are branch managers, home office managers, loan officers, and all supporting staff.
  • Continually define ways to increase internal customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
  • Maintain positive internal customer relationships and be available to help solve problems and deliver senior level resolutions.
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions and strategies.

Performance Expectations:

  • Provide a “WOW” experience and effectively communicate with associates, clients, partners, and vendors via phone, written communication, and/or in person.
  • Exude a positive attitude, mentor associates, set a good example (this includes appropriate dress and demeanor).
  • Anticipate staffing issues, plan for staffing changes in advance, and complete monthly recruiting activities to hire high quality associates to fully staff the branch/department.
  • Understand the responsibilities of production and operations and act as a liaison between functions to develop collaborative team relationships so that loans close on time.
  • Set clear expectations for associates and help plan their personal and professional growth through routine, one-on-one monthly meetings with all direct reports, etc.
  • Have knowledge about Evergreen’s mortgage processes and products in order to answer questions and support sales staff.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of Evergreen’s HR, Onboarding, Payroll, and Accounting policies and systems and proactively consult applicable department when dealing with issues.
  • Encourage growth and provide training and cross-training opportunities for all associates.
  • Perform all actions in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Convictions of EHL.
  • Manage the department to meet or exceed department financial metrics.
  • Perform all actions in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company.
  • Address performance issues in a timely manner and document incidents.
  • Host regular and timely communication with associates.

Specific Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities Required for Position:

  • Ability to work well with fellow associates, clients and vendors.
  • Exercise good judgment and strong character, motivated, hard working.
  • Expert, 5+ years’ experience, Knowledge of all Microsoft Operating Systems and Office products.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
  • Expert, 5+ years’ experience, Knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, Routers, Switches, VOIP, VPN, Data Center Technology, and Server Roles.
  • 10+ or 14+ (if no degree), years of experience in information technology required, preferably in the mortgage industry.
  • Expert, 5+ years’ experience, Managing of cloud providers and solutions such as: AWS, Azure, M365, SaaS, SASE, SD-WAN, VDI, etc.
  • Experience with loan origination systems, preferably Ellie Mae Encompass.
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams and individuals required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to speak and hear, lift and carry up to fifty pounds (50 lbs.) or occasionally more.
  • Required to drive for business purposes and must hold a driver’s license in good standing and maintain personal auto insurance in compliance with EHL’s Auto Insurance policy.
  • Requires all forms of dexterity and mobility throughout the shift, which may include extended periods of sitting and/or standing. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, twist, climb or balance, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, occasionally noisy environment.

Basic Life/AD&D insurance for eligible associates as well as a Short-term Disability benefit are provided by Evergreen. Additional Voluntary Life/AD&D, Long-term Disability benefits and Legal/ID protection plans paid for by the associate are also available. Associates are automatically enrolled in Evergreen’s 401(k) plan. Personal Time Off (PTO) of up to 13.34 hours may be earned monthly and associates may enjoy 9 paid holidays each year. Compensation:

The base annual range for this position is $120,000.00 to $256,000.00, depending on a number of factors including location and experience.
